The Top Ten SCEA Home Value Items: November 2013
by Kassadee Marie, HSM team writer
Like beauty, value is in the eye of the beholder.
In other words, what one person sees as value, another person may not. Value, as I understand it, is a cost-to-worth relationship and I can only tell you what I perceive as having value in Home purchases. Following are the items that I consider are the best value for the past month and I’ll tell you why I think so, for each item or package. This isn’t a list of my favorite things for the month and they’re not always the least expensive item(s), either. It should be no surprise that bundles make up the majority of the best values on Home, as combined items sell for less in a pack than they do purchased separately. You may not want every item in a bundle, but when you like most of the items included, they can be quite a bargain.
Note: Although these items are numbered, it’s not meant to be a top value to least value list, but rather my value choices for the month overall. I didn’t include free items and I also didn’t try to choose one of each type of item, such as estate, locomotion, furniture pack, clothing item, etc. If I had this would have been a somewhat different list.
1. Granzella’s Layered Vest Outfit 3-piece Set or T-shirt, Glasses Around Neck & Jacket Outfit Set for the guys – Leather Jacket and Minidress Outfit Set or Diagonal Stripe Dress Outfit Set for the ladies for $ 2.49. This developer has some of the cutest and most stylish clothes on Home. Their sets are usually from three to five pieces with matching shoes and often, hats. They are bundled and sold for the guys and for the ladies at a really nice price. Last month there were two sets for males and two sets for females, with four complementing hairdos, sold separately for $.99 each.
2. Bigyama’s Morocco Bundle for $ 2.99. Many of us have wanted jackets that can be taken off or put on over other clothing. It’s now possible, in effect, with these two styles of dresses (with and without the jacket) being offered for the ladies in these bundles. These five-piece sets are quite a bargain, with pieces totaling $6.45 if purchased separately. There are three color choices, the original black on black, the rogue with a deep maroon dress, and the wasp with golden yellow accents and leggings.
3. Lockwood’s Abbey Hill Cottage Super Bundle (for Male or Female) for $ 8.99. If you love to match your clothing to your surroundings on Home, don’t change the gender of your avatar, and don’t want clothing items for the other gender, one of these two packs is perfect for you. The clothing is attractive (and offered in alternate colors in the gift machine). The cottage itself, is large and has two stories, and there are furniture rewards to be earned each day for a number of days. The two-level garden is sumptuous and there are even additional grounds beyond the garden.
4. VEEMEE’s skateboards for $2.49. Ten different boards are now offered by this developer, (four this last month) each with a unique trick to be performed by using the square button while in motion. When not moving, there is a nice pose where you are holding your skateboard on end at your side. These items also allow you into the skate park at Acorn Meadows, where tasks sometimes appear to earn points for leveling up and earning acorns at the park.
5. Lockwood’s Retro Modern Kitchen Pack for $3.99. Surprisingly, the developer is offering this bundle under their Figment line, when it seems fitting for it to be offered under the Drey line, where the “Noir” furniture is sold. Although the Noir line is based on the 1940’s and the retro line is based on the 1950’s, this seems to be another bundle suitable to this genre. The retro look is a lot of fun to decorate with. The eight items in this bundle would cost $7.92, if purchased separately, making this a half-price bundle and a great value.
6. VEEMEE’s Animal Avatars Bundles for $5.49 or $6.49. This developer has offered four great bundles of three animal avatars for our enjoyment at the $5.49 price; all of these sets came out this last month. (A fifth bundle has four animals and a $6.49 price tag and came out earlier.) Each bundle has animals in the same theme, such as aquatic or big cats. By now there’s probably something to suit everyone’s taste, but if not I’ll bet there will be before long. Each of the animal avatars is priced at $2.99 separately.
7. Lockwood’s Drey Ragland Rebel Bundle for males or Drey Trend Tycoon Bundle for females for $2.99. I think this developer may have a clothing theme to suit everyone’s taste. From Gothic to sophisticated, with a stop at every day clothing, they have it all. This may be the bundle that suits your taste. These two five-piece bundles for the ladies and for the guys are a great bargain, with items totaling almost $5.00 if purchased separately. The male set even offers the option of the top with and without a scarf. The ladies bundle includes a silver chain and red nail polish.
8. nDreams’ Luxury 6 Person Bed Bundle for $9.99. Larger personal estates simply need larger furniture items to make the space look filled up and lived in, so these big beds help satisfy that need in one of the rooms. If you like and want any two of these five beds, it only makes financial sense to buy the bundle and receive the other three basically for a dollar. It especially makes sense if you want the one of them costs almost $9.00 on its own. The beds have fun themes like “safari” and “Arabian royalty”.
9. Granzella’s City by the Bay Loft “Window to the World” for $7.99. I would never tell anyone to buy a personal estate on Home sight unseen, but I’m tempted to with Granzella’s latest offering. No developer has ever given 72 rewards with a personal space before, not even close to this number. And they’re great rewards. This space is huge, with four floors, a yard, and even a roof top area. It also has time of day changes (one of which changes the weather, too), changes in lighting, music, background noise and even more. Ride a cable car in San Francisco.
10. JAM Games’ Festive Clothing Bundle (for him or her) for $7.99. Start getting your wardrobe ready for the holidays with this developer. The colors and theme of all of these sets are fun and stylish and with the bundle, you don’t have to make the hard choice of which to purchase. The male bundle is three three-piece outfits and the female bundle is four two-piece outfits. All sets include a “Santa-styled” hat. Sold separately these nine clothing pieces would cost $10.41 for him and it would cost $11.92 for her eight pieces. This is a nice little savings.
Honorable mention(s): Lockwood’s Drey Supermodel Animation Poses – The Callback (for Male for Female) for $2.99. Really nice looking poses.
VEEMEE’s Thanksgiving Bundle for $8.49. These clothing and active items, companion and locomotion would be $18.88 purchased separately.
There was a wide variety of bargain items offered this last month from locomotions, to furniture, clothing, and incredible personal spaces. If you haven’t checked out these items, you should do so soon. It’s time to shop, decorate and get ready to party for the holidays on Home. Here’s wishing you a Merry Christmas!
