The LOOTcast, Episode #6: Stab-Stab!

by NorseGamer, HSM Publisher

Seems like unboxing videos are all the rage these days.

Nothing wrong with that, except for one thing: most of them are a bit boring.

This isn’t in any way to dampen the enthusiasm of the people who create them. Indeed, it’s a testament to a brand when they can drive such a level of fan engagement. The problem is, as a consumer, I want to be entertained.

Same goes for dev diaries. Most dev diary videos I’ve watched are, frankly, bland. It always seems to be one guy with no personality sitting next to a computer screen and droning on in some barely audible monotone about a bunch of technical stuff that no one understands. Hey, maybe there’s an audience for that; personally, though, I want to be shown an experience.

Ep6Teaser12So with this latest LOOTcast episode, we decided to make the silliest, most demented PS4 unboxing video you’ve ever seen. And rather than show you the long hours of people sitting quietly at their computers, stringing together mountains of lines of code, we only focus on bringing you the weirdest, wildest, zaniest moments. Like violent pumpkin stabbings.

Because, in the end, time is a currency denoted not by minutes, but by moments.

No, the LOOTcast isn’t a glamorous, high-budget, perfectly lit and mixed show. It’s not designed to be. Nor is it even close to being the last word in entertainment. We’ve just set out to make something that’s goofy and hopefully a bit of fun. Because take it from someone who made the jump from consumer to developer: this industry is a lot of fun.

If this video series manages to make you chuckle, chortle, guffaw and perhaps even erupt into a full-blown laugh, then we’ve done our jobs.
