When you go to a gaming event — PAX, E3, etc. — you get to enjoy an amazing phantasmagorical smorgasbord of sights and sounds, all painstakingly arranged and set up by…whom?
That’s the part you don’t get to see. The setup.
When we think of the allure of working in the video game industry, lots of glamorous images come to mind. And, indeed, it is an insanely fun business to be in. But it’s also an industry filled with long hours and a lot of work. No one is going to magically do things for you; if you want to get something done, then you roll up your sleeves and you make it happen.
LOOT has showcased Forsaken Planet at two major events this year: E3 and IndieCade. In both cases, it was an enormous amount of fun — bookended on either side by arduous amounts of time setting up and tearing everything down, and punctuated with sore feet, wrenched muscles and strained voices. When the last consumer has departed and the doors are shut, there’s still hours of work ahead of the developers before they can call it a night.
Thing is, though…it’s fun. Really fun. If you’re up to the challenge. And with this latest episode, we wanted to show you not just LOOT at IndieCade, but all of the fun behind-the-scenes moments involved in bringing it about. Because it’s exactly the sort of dev diary footage that you don’t normally get to see.
