The Little Shop of Haute Couture

If you’ve ever wanted your own clothing shop, then now is your chance. JAM Games’ remarkable new estate concept, recently introduced to the marketplace of Home, still continues to enthrall. The Jam Jar is a boutique with style and splendor. This shining sparkling couture house set in a city somewhere in the virtual UK is yours for the purchasing.
JAM Games arrived in Home as developers last year. Their first personal space was the RaceOn garage apartment. They introduced a line of racing attire for male and females in Home at that time. These developers, two friends from the UK, say their motto is creativity, quality and innovation. So far they have displayed a mixture of all of these in the form of their products to Home.
They have now created a space with lots of light and large rooms, and even innovative touches such as domed ceilings that have active clouds on them. There are bundles of furniture befitting a posh boutique: marble tables, dress forms, jewelry displays, male and female manikins, clothing rails, shopping bags for males and females (free in the JAM store) crystal chandeliers, gold-leafed architectural details, a sweeping double staircase with rotating globe finials. There’s a wide open courtyard waiting to be decorated. Traffic is visible in the street outside, just over a iron scroll work fence and gate. JAM has included a commerce point, as most of the developers have done.
There are four wall slots for hanging photos; here is where I found an issue with this sparkling space, as two of the wall slots are outside in the courtyard. Logically I cannot see what would be hung out here, as it is outside. This for me takes away from the realism of the courtyard. The other two wall slots are extremely high up on the wall. I had no way of placing a photo in them. I could not target them because of their height. I was finally able to do so by stacking two harbor footstools on the stairs and climbing the railing.
In a wishlist I wrote for HSM sometime ago I conceived of owning a little shop in Home and living out a dream of proprietorship; this space fits that ideal for me. JAM’s space hearkens back to a time in the 17th century, when these spaces were home to groups of wealthy patrons, royalty and their peers. They began as houses created for the support of the arts, painting and sculpture. The fabulously wealthy held social affairs in them with regularity.
These social spaces forever linked together art and fashion. The salon continued to flourish into the 1940’s, still places only the wealthy could venture into. Art was in permanent residence in these establishments; exhibitions soon became the backdrop for fashion shows held in these early galleries. The 1960’s would change all that, as the 60’s introduced a different salon; music royalty was added to the social events held in salons. Artist from all three genres found a place to mingle. In the next decade poetry and writing found its way into the salon. The salons of the 60’s and 70’s was all the rage.
For all the fashion-conscious divas and fashion clubs in Home, this could be the space for you. There will also be a club skin coming soon. Until then you can showcase your fashion styles, shows and creative events in the personal space, as Home user Jellia has done in the style of Coco Channel, in these photos. Finally, fashion isn’t the only thing this space lends itself to; give a look at the video below.
