Planetland, Home of the Future

by Phoenix, HSM team writer

Planetland is one of Home’s older personal spaces. Introduced to Home users in February 2010 for $4.99, it can still be purchased for $4.99 today — or you can pick up a bundle that includes furniture and clothing items for $9.99.  It offers fantasy fans some very interesting graphics and animated scenery. The space could be set in a futuristic Earth, or an alien world somewhere else. In this tour of the space, Planetland, is prime real estate and just the place you are looking for.  The architecture, cut from the rock wall of a mountainside, is reminiscent of a domed cathedral full of light and echoing sound. Two cascading waterfalls flank the entrance, while light streams through an abundance of window panels, across marble floors.

In this world of sci-fi gone reality, it isn’t to far a stretch to conceive of a world with a landscape and personal space like that of Planetland.  Sci-fi fans know there has long been a belief that one day man would live outside of this Earth, or even more — that man would live in a city on Earth where the weather was controlled and pollution was a thing of the past. In these cities, cars of the future no longer used roads of asphalt or earth to get around. The cars of the future travel the skies just like airplanes. Just like the Jetsons, even!

The cities of the future, where an architect’s dream of an unfettered fantasy of neo-classical and modern buildings set beside a calm lake amid a snow capped mountain range or summer forest, can be envisioned in Home.  Nothing about Planetland is too far a stretch to envision — not even the dome that encloses the cityscape. Domed cities have long been a part of the dream of Utopian societies. For some reason — perhaps the idea of a biosphere on an alien world — domes capture our imagination. These cities have been featured in many sci-fi books since the Industrial Revolution era.

Planetland is one such city; come inside and find out what awaits you in this city of the future from Home’s personal estates.

I love this place Phoenix, I have it through the bundle pack which gave me clothes that is reminiscent of the wardrobe from the anime film, “Appleseed: Ex Machina” and that’s the reason I bought it, but I since turned it into a Jedi temple like something out of the prequel Star Wars films. Open and airy, lotsa white furniture and it is a larger space than it seems, so putting stuff out is really cool if you have an idea for it. I love this place, either as a pack or alone, it is worth getting.Great idea to look at an older estate.
