nDreams Rocks Home
by Burbie52, HSM team writer
Ever since Home has been around, there has always been music and dancing. In the beginning year or two, these consisted of the Central Plaza dance floor (Chain Swing, anyone?) and Singstar, along with the Red Bull Beach, MotorStorm Carrier (at first) and a few other spaces. Granted, Central Plaza long ago bit the virtual dust, but Singstar still exists and you can still find many people there dancing the night away to the same old songs.
Since the beginning of this year we have seen a huge infusion of new personal and club spaces dedicated to music and dance themes. Many different developers have added their own versions of these musical spaces, and now it is nDreams’ turn to enter the fray. They simply call it The Nightclub.
The space is a bit plain compared to other club spaces that have come out recently. There are no blaring lights or tons of neon everywhere. But for my tastes, that is a good thing. I like a little bling now and then, but too much and I run for the hills. I found this to be refreshing because it allows for you to decorate the way you like. You can add a bit of color where you wish and not make the space too over the top. It allows for more personal choice than previous offerings.
It is a fairly large area, but not overly so, with a nice bit of built in seating and a bar that takes up one half of it. There are several high-beamed arches that create a tunnel feeling between the seating area and the music/dance area. The arches are nicely detailed yet still in the same plain color scheme.
The other half is where you will find the dance floor area. On this side there are two small side stages for your personal go-go dancers to use and the only true neon you will find in the space lining the dance floor. The place has a bit of a smoky atmosphere, like you might expect in a club. The whole structure has the feeling of being underground, with the concrete walls and granite floors. There is a lot of built in low lighting as well to add to the atmosphere.
A control panel graces the back wall of the dance area which controls the music in the space, and this one can be used by anyone in the space; it is not owner-controlled. The music is very much like what you find in the many BoxBeats boomboxes that nDreams has created in the past. The club is modern in structure so the music fits the motif here.
One of the greatest parts of the space is the built in foam maker that covers the dance floor with a thick layer of bubbles for your club members or friends to dance the night away in. This is a nice touch of realism as there are several clubs in the real world that do things like this.
The place comes either as a clubhouse or a personal space priced at the typical $4.99 but also comes bundled with both for only $5.49, so it is obvious which is the better choice there. Then you have a lot of different items, mostly actives, that can be purchased either separately or in a larger bundled pack for $12.99 with everything included.
The things you get for the bigger bundle are pretty cool. You have a laser light display (17 slots), a confetti machine (9 slots), a very nice bubble machine (6 slots), a couch with a built in drinking animation (10 slots) and two BoxBeats that take up nine slots each. What is especially nice and very different from other bundles out there is the two sets of dance moves that are included in this Ultimate Bundle. You get six dances altogether and they have the very well done quality of all of the other nDreams dances.
This new addition to the Home dance scene is a welcome one, especially for those who don’t believe that a club has to be completely wild-looking and that it can have a more sophisticated look and feel. It is a great addition to the new spaces that seem to be coming out at a rapid pace lately.
The only thing that I wish was different in all of these new nDreams items is the amount of slots it takes to use the actives they have. I doubt I would buy and use some of these just because of that. But if you want to use them in this particular space, the fact that the seating is built in already is a plus.
Keep on rocking, nDreams; we look forward to what comes next!

“the amount of slots it takes to use the actives they have. I doubt I would buy and use some of these just because of that”
And that’s exactly why I didn’t mash the buy button! I was really, REALLY looking forward to this space as a new clubhouse but the coffin lid was slammed shut when I saw those really cool seats with the drinking gestures took a massive ten slots!
Thing is, the slot count isn’t just the killer for me, it’s what’s tied to that too; by which I mean AFTER you’ve slapped down 3 or 4 chairs, some lights and the confetti bomb, what room do you have left to make an original lay-out? Pretty much none.
Sadly, that was the deal breaker for me. If nDreams can find a way to reduce that slot-count then I’ll definitely pick this place up though; and I still applaud them for making the place. So far (to me) it’s the most realistic looking club space yet.
I really liked nDreams new space would be fun to decorate. As my favorite pastime in HOME I fill every nook-n-cranny and a 100 slot allotment per space fills up very fast. BUT as soon as I saw the slot count for the active items that came with the bundle I was so disappointed. The price of the bundle was so reasonable too! The active items are great and would have used them in other spaces as well but slot counts are way to high. Love the drinking chair but I wouldn’t even buy it as a individual purchase. nDreams love your work but please lower your slot counts. Great review Burbie…
There are better nightclubs out already, the only thing thats different is the foam machine which actually doesn’t look that good. Nightclub personal spaces of this size are useless. 12 people in this size of place feels awfully empty. We need nightclub public spaces. Id even pay to go into a decent nightclub public space on home. Perhaps like that slap happy game pay for a music player so you can get access
Or uhh, X7?
I still think this is the best looking club so far; it looks like some of the places I’d go in RL. But your point about personals only allowing for 12, I can see how that’d be problematic for some as well. Not that that’s nDreams fault, their hands are tied there.
But a public space like this would be cool. Maybe sell a dance or pose for entry, then have mini games inside to generate some more cash?
Better than that empty nRage space hmm?
