Dani and Her Magic Sparkles

“Don’t wear something because it is in fashion. Wear it because it suits you.”

PlayStation Home user Dani, in collaboration with Codeglue, has brought some remarkable fashion to PlayStation Home.  The concept of women’s clothes “designed by and for Home’s women” seems to resonate quite well, no doubt leading to greater sales revenue.  One collection — the Magic Sparkles set — follows her popular styles that include A Touch of Spring, Express Your Color and the recently released and much-in-demand Sweet Boho.

But, at the same time, it is a bit different.

Where is the red color?

First thing that I noticed: no red color.  Her colors choices in the past have been typically of the pastel hues, but no red.  Second, I thought this was lingerie, not everyday walking-around Home wear. This time the colors chosen are Black, Turquoise (looks like mint green to me), White, Pink, Peach and Lilac.  Why does it seem so hard to find red outfits in Home?  How about Rose as a color? Third thing I noticed was that the sparkles are very subtle to the point of me asking why are they even there.

The name Magic Sparkles to me implies just that. I was looking for something glittery and flashy.  What is shown on the dress looks like to be diamonds, but haphazardly placed there with no sense of being. Maybe the top part could have been all sparkly or more of it on the lower part where there is no print.  Maybe the original design had it full of sparkles and it was decided it was too much. I personally think it could do without them.

The outfits being offered are available in two different seductive styles.  There is a long flowing dress that has a slit up the left side with built in undergarments that would make even Angelina Jolie do a double take, and has an opening wide enough to keep that place cool and airyI do like the design very much and the pattern of flowers on the lower edge and under the bust ads a very nice touch.  The other option is a cute mini dress that includes a bow added to the front of the of the outfit. I find myself asking again why it is there; it looks so out of place that it feels almost like an afterthought.

Got to love the ocean breeze

The rest of the Magic Sparkles collection includes a pair of sandals with a short heel and is available in the same color as the outfits.  Maybe it is me, but those shoes make my digital ankles look big.  These also have some sparkles added, and since now my ankles look big, let me draw your attention down there.  The flower that is present on the dress is also added to the sandals and is also the main design feature of the bracelet, which as well has a little bit of sparkle added to it.  I am curious as how the bracelet stays on because it has no band wrapped around your arm.  I also don’t get what I am guessing are some type of leaves protruding out.  This to me looks to much like a type of corsage and I think it would be visually more appealing if those leaves wrapped around the arm or even as a flower for your hair.  If you’re planning on attending a senior prom soon, I suggest the peach or turquoise ensemble.

To be fair: I do enjoy the style of the dresses. I’m not a fan of the bell-shaped bottom of the long dress, and the print is cute but kind of hard to see unless you are close up.  I like the style of the sandal but wished the heel was a little bit taller, and the bracelet I don’t know about.  Wearing the pieces as stand-alones works better for me than all together as an ensemble — unless it’s the black or white one.  The selection of color choices I find to be suited for the teenager or young adult, but not for me. However, if they made a red variation with no sparkles and no flowers on the shoes, I would buy it in a heartbeat.

The collection can be purchased as a color set for $3.49, while individually the dresses run $1.49, shoes at $0.99 and the bracelet at a mere $0.49 — which are great and inexpensive prices if you’re just looking for a single piece.  I own a couple of items designed  previously by Dani, and I’ve been pleased with them. What’s holding me back from buying more of her designs here is the lack of red, but if that doesn’t trouble you, then you’re likely to find this very appealing.  I am always happy to see someone from the Home community make the jump into being a content provider, and Dani continues to bring style and chic to the community with her nice lines and subtle colors. You can see all of what she has brought to Home at http://www.danimtldesigner.com/
