The Top Ten SCEA Home Value Items for July
by Kassadee Marie, HSM team writer
Like beauty, value is in the eye of the beholder.
Value, as I understand it, is a cost-to-worth relationship and I can only tell you what I perceive as having worth in Home purchases. Following are the items that I consider are the best value for the past month, and I’ll tell you why I think so for each item or package. It should be no surprise that bundles make up the majority of the best values on Home, as combined items sell for less in a pack than they do purchased separately. You may not want every item in a bundle, but when you like most of the items included, the bundle can be a bargain. This isn’t a list of my favorite things for the month and they’re not always the least expensive item(s), either.
Note: although these items are numbered, it’s not meant to be a top value to least value list, but rather my value choices for the month overall. I didn’t include free items and I also didn’t try to choose one of each type of item, such as estate, locomotion, furniture pack, clothing item, etc. If I had, this would have been a somewhat different list.
1. VEEMEE’s Animal Avatars Bundle 01 for $6.49. We’ve always wanted ways to change our avatars completely and this bundle is a really fun way to do just that. The bundle is four animals – a tiger, a stag, a polar bear, and a giant tarantula – that sell separately for $2.99 each. You may see any of these animals roaming around Home, especially in the larger spaces such as Acorn Meadows Park, but the giant tarantula seems to be the most popular. Occasionally you may even stumble across a “spider flash mob” with what looks like hundreds of them. It’s up to you whether you join in or run!
2. VEEMEE’s Locomotion Bundle – One for $5.49. If you love locomotions (and who doesn’t?) and you like to have silly fun on Home, you’ll love these four items. Each one is sold separately for $2.49 and they include a helicopter backpack, a pogo stick, a space bouncer and a giant boulder. These are all fun items to use and see flying, bouncing or rolling by. Spoiler: If you haven’t seen it somehow, the giant boulder actually picks up your avatar and rolls along with you pinned to it. Hysterical!
3. Lockwood’s Haven of the Skies Treasure Pack for $9.99. Lockwood’s exotic and fantastical realm that was first brought to us as the Jewel of the Skies personal estate has now been expanded to a club. On its own this wonderful estate is sold for $7.99 and includes a jewel-collecting game with furniture rewards, for you and for your club members. This treasure pack also includes the Rami (male) and Kalila (female) clothing packs. These five-piece bundles are sold separately for $4.99 each and each includes a hairstyle. By the way, you may also what to pick up the belly-dancing locomotion sold for $3.49, to compliment this pack.
4. nDreams’ Masquerade Ball Complete Bundle for $9.99. The personal space included in this pack (sold separately for $4.99) is not a huge space, but it’s very grand, as a space called The Ballroom should be. The bundle includes a four-piece marvelously ornate furniture pack (also sold separately for $2.49) of a rug, a table, a chair and a chaise lounge. It also includes male and female clothing packs. nDreams has covered the bases by offering two styles of clothing in various color combinations and a selection of highly decorated animal masks for both males and females. The two brighter colors are traditional and the two black are Gothic. The clothing bundles of 12 items for the ladies and 15 for the gentlemen are sold on their own for $4.99 each.
5. nDreams’ Clock Bundle for $2.49. There’s just something about clocks, isn’t there? They add a realistic and finished look to every room in our personal estates like no other ornament really does. This stylish set has three very specific motifs which may match some styles that you may be decorating in already; they are contemporary, ornate and steampunk. Called Modern, Victorian and Gears of Time, respectively, they are also sold for $1.49, individually. They keep the time set to your PS3 and only take three furniture slots.
6. VEEMEE’s My Bathroom Bundle for $8.49. It seemed to take forever to get bathroom items in Home. Yes, there were several early pieces, but frankly, they weren’t stylish at all. More recent efforts have been very good, but VEEMEE knows and does style right! The first of many color choices offered (I hope!) is slate. This dark color may be more appealing to the guys, but it could appeal to the ladies too, with the right colorful ornaments added. From the size of a shower or a double storage unit to the size of a rolled towel or a soap tray, this bundle contains 13 pieces, making this set quite a bargain.
7. Lockwood’s Wedge Heel Boots Value Pack for $3.99. We love boots, we love great style and we love color choices and this bundle has it all. This five pack of knee-high boots has great color and pattern choices, from adorable baby pink to classic tan and all the way to the wild zebra and cow (Moo) patterns. And don’t forget the glittery gold if you want to add some bling to your outfits! You’ll probably want all five of these color choices (sold for $1.49 each – even the gold) and the five in the gift machine (sold for only 64 tokens), too. It’s time to swap with a close and trusted friend.
8. VEEMEE’s Personal Dining Experience – Table Bundle for $5.99. Do you like to give your friends gifts or rewards from your personal spaces or items? If you do and/or if you like to decorate, you’ll want to pick up this pack of four different sized dining tables that offer up to four food rewards for your guests. Invite them to dine with you and share a fun experience with one, three, five or nine guests, where you can watch your avatar enjoy a lavish dinner of up to four courses, including desert. If you have only a few spaces, you can pick them up individually for $1.99 for a table for two; $2.49 for a table for four; $2.99 for a table for six; and $3.49 for a table for ten.
9. madmunki’s Spunland Items from $2.99 to $1.49. Admit it, Spunland is funny, crazy, weird, colorful fun. And so are their rewards and purchasable items, too. Last month they added a lot of items to chose from, including t-shirt packs, heads and head items, seven companions, four locomotions and rabbit ears that change with your selected mood, all in their signature colors of white, purple and orange. I can’t recommend just one item; go choose some for yourself.
10. VEEMEE’s 50’s Diner Bundle for $11.99. The ‘fifties was an interesting era in America, and if you’re an admirer of this period of time, I recommend this bundle to you. This personal estate is fairly large and has an exterior as well as an interior space. The exterior space is the parking lot where you can enjoy the old cars, including a roadster. The interior is well done and has interesting features, such as a grill you can cook on. This bundle contains all of the furnishings, including the jukeboxes that play, coffee machine, cash register, vending machine, phone booth, tables, chair, stool, napkin dispenser, and seven food and drink items.
July was another five-Wednesday month, which means two things: the first is that it’s hard to choose only ten items for my list and the second is that I’m going to cheat and mention extra items. This month I’m going to add sale items. Wow! Have we ever had sales this past month! There are too many to mention all of them, but I hope you picked up any items that you wanted, but may not have had a chance to purchase before. Happy shopping to you!
