DCUO: Friday Night Legends Episode 11

By Jin Lovelace; HSM team writer and filmmaker

As of this article I’ve managed to successfully complete my very first Tier 4 Raid in The Gates of Tartarus in DCUO. Though I’ve attempted it once and failed miserably at it due to being under-powered, it also didn’t help that the team I was queued with weren’t geared properly or experienced.

In response to this, I felt it was time to corral a group of individuals who are avidly active on this MMO and simply start a community of our own right on my new Facebook Group DCUOCommunity. Though  the name is not fancy or may not warp you into some hideout where villains come swarming at you like a pack of Agent Smiths from The Matrix Reloaded, it does suggest useful information and quality gamers who wish to commune with others.

So to tie this in with Sony Online Entertainment’s (SOE) Friday Night Legends Episode 11, this is one of the reasons why I believe this game is absolutely amazing: community involvement. The team of Jens “Spytle” Andersen and Ted “Mepps” Stone is one of hilarity and they bring a breath of fresh air to the game. Their episodes aren’t just entertaining, but also provide value if you wish to learn how the game system operates, and be kept updated on the latest news of what’s happening in the DCUO community.

In Episode 11 we’re graced with the presence of the Iconics League from the PC server, along with some announcements which we saw go live this past Tuesday. The League was featured over at E3 with the same team, as they were given cool challenges that inspired me to come up with some of my own. However, I believe somewhere along the way of me attempting Prime Battlegrounds and them demolishing the mission in the allotted time period, I realized they do it much better than I can.

But what put a huge smile on my face is the devious nature that Spytle has, opposite to Mepps’ gentle side. What I’m talking about here is the few minutes towards the ending that truly recreated that Matrix Reloaded scene I mentioned before. I literally haven’t laughed so hard in a good while. It may be one of the best spectacles from their show to date.

You can catch the show on Fridays at 4pm PST (7pm EST) over on their Twitch TV channel (twitch.tv/dcuniverseonline) as well as on their Youtube channel.
