DCUO: FNL Episode 12
By Jin Lovelace; HSM team writer and filmmaker
There’s one thing when it comes to the DCUO community: I personally feel there should be some videos on how to run through certain missions properly. Rummaging through YouTube for a proper video on a Raid, Alert, or even a normal Challenge mission from a gracious user turns up no such luck, which is rather odd these days. You don’t expect for anyone to do something as to help out a person who desire to at least optimize their gameplay, but then that’s just my opinion.
The reason for my aforementioned statement is due largely to a lack of quality PvP match videos to enjoy. Granted, I’m more than down for a few montages of anyone’s League as long as the channel showcases a bit of a background about their strategies and what their League is about.
But so far, no dice.
Well the 12th episode of Friday Night Legends might spark some aspiring video makers to take advantage of the newly added “Scrimmage” mode, where you can host your own Player vs. Player matches in any arena, anytime, with whomever you choose, be it in a 2vs2, 3vs3, 4vs4, and so forth. While I enjoyed the past episodes which featured some good Leagues running PvE missions, this was a great switch-up to introduce the new mode and how to properly use it.
In their first ever “Main Event,” hosts Ted “Mepps” Stone and Jens “Spytle” Andersen brings in two Leagues from the European servers of the opposing factions–Smoke Break vs Dragon’s Lair–to battle it out in the Legends tournament. In all honesty, I’m not a big PvP fan, but the Legends mode is where it’s at for me and after watching this, I feel inspired to try the mode out again. Both Leagues did an excellent job at displaying their skills and showed good sportsmanship.
Heck, this has given me some great ideas on hosting my own Scrimmage events.
You can check out FNL every Friday at 4pm PST (7pm EST) on their Twitch TV Channel (http://twitch.tv/dcuniverseonline) and if you wish to be a part of the DCUO Community then check it out over on Facebook: http://facebook.com/DCUOUnofficial
Of course, I hope you enjoy.
