Off the Grid with Burbie and Ted (Part 3)

It’s time to set the Way Back Machine again and find those interesting and hard to get to nooks and crannies of Home. Today we will explore what might be the largest space in Home. This amazingly large space was decommissioned years ago, but Burbie and Ted will show you how to get off the grid!
Not only is the Presentation Podium off the grid, but even when it was freely accessible, it required a little finesse to get into. Upon entering the space you find yourself in a simple white room – and you may be asking yourself “Is this it?” However, a little more exploring reveals a mirror against the back wall that shows your reflection, albeit a little off.
Looking back at you is yourself as a PlayStation Move controller enthusiastically waving. On the other side of the room is a Move controller shaped doorway that you can look through but not go through. If you catch the hint and wave back at your refection, the mirror gives you a new item as a reward. Once you receive your reward, the room changes into a colorful Move-themed disco complete with music and a light floor. You will need to go to your wardrobe and change, like your refection in the white room becoming a Move controller is the only way to access to the rest of the space. And what a space it is!
To call the Presentation Podium large is an understatement. It was obviously designed to fit a ton of people. The space is built in and around a mountain range. It feels like another area that might connect to the Observatory area we covered previously. Its towering clear glass ceilings let in the twilight skies. Paths meander around streams filled with lily pads and lead to small alcoves that are furnished with couches and video screens showing advertisements for the Move.
The Presentation Podium was created to market the Move controller, Sony’s new motion detection system when it premiered for the PS3 back in 2010. It stayed on the navigator for a few months to allow users the opportunity to become familiar with it, and then disappeared.
There is a long balcony that sweeps above the length of the space and a nice dance floor under a large video screen that has some very upbeat music to dance to. It is hilarious to see your move controller avatar dancing without any feet or arms. The space has a very lively atmosphere to it.
There are two games in this space, one that give rewards and another that doesn’t, but is a bit challenging for those who like puzzle games.
The first game you will encounter is one that involves your avatar and three others to work as a team. You have to look for four different symbols to appear and repeat the motion that the symbol represents. All of these motions are Move related, they are “Shoot and arrow,” “Swing a sword,” “Punch like a boxer,” and “Wave a wand.” All of the people playing have a time limit to accomplish finding and doing the requested motion. If anyone fails you have to start over from the beginning. There are four round of this game, each one faster than the last and therefore harder to finish in time. You are rewarded with different colored Move controller avatars, until you get the final one which changes to all of the colors.
The other game here is called Tri Sphere. This game is for two players and though simple to do can be a challenge to win. There are two of these games available for play in the back of the space. The object of the game is having the most “territory” or lit up triangles on the sphere. You accomplish this by finding triangles to light that touch others of the opposite colors, your opponent’s pieces. It is a fun and yet challenging game. It was a close game, between Ted and Burbie but in the very end Burbie pulled ahead for the win.
The Presentation Podium is a very fun space that now it’s off the grid and can only be accessed by an invitation from someone who saved it into their favorites. Once you arrive, save it into your favorites and invite your friends and play for the still active rewards. This space is a must see, and it’s easy to think that it will get re-skinned into something else now that the Move controller is being incorporated into the new PS4 controller. So see it while you still can.
Until next time this is Burbie and Ted saying: “See you off the grid!”

If the shop still works you could get a move outfit with the custom animations used in the game. The space itself was a generic space that was used for several events. The game is good fun if you know everyone that’s playing. Otherwise it’s easy to troll, It’s still available in EU region. Love these old spaces and I’m lucky enough to have won all the rewards from this one.
This space sounds really cool! Will ask any of my friends if they saved this space so I could see it. It’s fun to learn about spaces that once were. Unfortunately I do not have a Move, so if one of my friends invite me, I won’t be able to play the games. Looking forward to hearing about more “of the grid” spaces in the future!
You can play the game here with your regular controller. I don’t own a move either, it turns you into one so that you can access the interior area is all. So find it and have some fun!
@Gary Yeah, this is the Sony Podium space, it’s had several re-works done to it. My personal favorite was when Pasha took over and did a live stream from Ibiza for a week; they had pole-dancing poles that everyone could use and seemed to be occupied by giant *ahem* cats when I last saw that space.
It’s a shame you have to remain as a Move controller while in this particular instant of this space, but I believe there’s another (older) version of this space still kickin’ around from when it was something else. Dont ask me what though, all I remember wad it has a weird cannon game with a really cool trophy for winning…
