Fashion Explosion: an Afterword

By Jin Lovelace; team writer and filmmaker

As of this first paragraph, I’m just waking up from an intoxicating day I had on May 25th, 2013. No, I wasn’t drinking,  for I don’t drink at all. No drugs were taken, and sadly there are no videos of any of the HSM staff  members doing the Harlem Shake.

Rather, it was about my latest fashion show, Belle dis Moi (beautiful, I want) that sought to go beyond the usual such scenes you would see in Home. To give it a professional spark, to showcase some density and depth to the presentation. As of now, some are calling the show a “success”.

Belle dis Moi was beyond that. As far as I’m concerned, it made history.

Let me iterate to you what went down: we had a filled clubhouse, requests pouring in, a great livestream from Alpha Zone 4, easy-listening music, and diverse styles that made some heads turn — and then some.

Plus, we gave away some prizes! Twilight Touch collaborated with VEEMEE to give away fashion prizes. Have you ever won or redeemed a code to grab the latest Billabong, Wrangler, or the new Street Styles apparel? No, you say? Funny, because we still have an overflow of these items up for grabs. That’s how serious this was.

Oh, wait, that’s not all.

Lockwood’s Screen Siren Dress was up for grabs, which is still an amazing commodity to wear on Playstation Home. But how about their 2013 teaser trailer they released earlier this year? Remember that space you saw?

Curious about it still?

It’s the Venue space, which will see release on the 29th of this month, and Twilight Touch has given away two SCEA codes to lucky winners. And we still have more EU codes to give away! We’ve even given away the new Touch of Spring collection from Dani MtlDesigner and Codeglue, and we still  have more prizes to just toss out to everyone soon. And lets not forget Game Mechanics, which I had the most awesome time giving away their goodies in the Hub, Pier Park, Twitter, Belle dis Moi, Adventure Park, and even on our site in my Belle dis Moi article! There were even a couple of codes laid out on Facebook  for everyone.

But codes aren’t the star of the show. No, there’s much more.

Observer Screenshot 5_38 AM 5_23_2013This nervous fashionista laid out some designs which garnered some strong attention. If you haven’t noticed as of recent months, I’ve been on top of PR articles and videos that’ll make your head spin. It was time for me to put my creative skills to the test, and instead of just creating yet another video to feature my styles — which you will see anyway — I decided to forego the fashion video and make it into a fashion show to get everyone involved. to showcase to everyone. This wasn’t a costume contest, or something to boast egos; those fashions were for you.

All of this, which took two months of planning to execute — and the biggest announcement is still yet to come.

Exclamation marks!

When I say Twilight Touch is a fashion house, I meant it. I take pride at what I do because it’s what I love to do. And part of it is to make others happy. I do this not to gain popularity; I do it because when I see others smile and be happy for what they accomplish, in turn it inspires me to do it again. I can see in the matrix now why HSM exists. If it wasn’t for the inspiration stemming from them, well, I wouldn’t have a great direction.

Five sponsors. Five. It’s still amazing.

The show wasn’t about the models; it was about the fashion. For Miss Missy Ann Thrope, Ruby Princess, Goddess-Queen Roberta, and Sookiesweet to don these designs and signature concoctions — and made them look good — was fantastic to watch. And I’m grateful to Phoenix’s write-up on Belle dis Moi; it was very kind of her to help promote visibility for the event.

(Is there a negative in this? Well, the Nightclub Clubhouse is officially a bust, as it doesn’t seem well-engineered to handle a full club roster and an event. Hopefully this can be fixed.)

Many thanks to each and every person who attended, and for the HerbaLife Coach himself, TEAM “C-Los” ILLUSION for hosting the show and officially being the host for the newly announced bi-weekly “Twilight Touch Lounge”, which will see release in June on update day.

There’s a real danger with presenting fashion in Home: fashion is inherently a “look at me” field, and all too often the people involved in it do so out of a personal need for internet fame. This is anathema to Twilight Touch, which believes that the fashion itself is the star, not the person wearing it. This is doubly true in virtual reality, where anyone can make an avatar look like anything they want.

New Twilight Touch inc LogoThe clothes are the star. The clothes are what monetize if consumers find them sufficiently appealing. And our role is to present fashions which we think might particularly appeal to the Home user base. Given the hundreds of articles and videos we’ve already published on this subject, Twilight Touch’s goal is to become a sounding board and showcase for this content.

This was long planned and something of a dream. My goal has been achieved.

The next goal? To now be featured in Home itself via the HSM EOD Channel.

With that, I have videos, articles for both organizations, and a slew of games that I need to catch up on, along with some fashions that were purchased but never worn…yet.

As AlphaZone 4’s Milereb would say: “Ciao Ciao Meow.”

I love that you make it about the clothes, not the person wearing them. In a real life fashion show that is what it is about, even though there are fashion divas out there, they are only truly canvas the designer uses to create something to show the world. Nice read Jin.

Wonderful show Jin! I just caught the live-stream and adored the mix-up of professional, casual…and more importantly: fun! styles :D

Jin, I was there and it was a great show. It is amazing how much we can do here in Home. I went to your show and was amazed how smooth everything went. The fashions were great, the people were nice and friendly and it was altogether a great show. Be proud of what you did, ya got a good eye. I loved that as each fashion would roll out, Mae (my gf and date for the evening) was thrilled that you pegged real clothes, a lot of which she has in her private wardrobe. Great job.
