New Items from VEEMEE & Lockwood Bring Sports to Life

by cjmp, HSM team writer

VEEMEE & Lockwood both bring some awesome new stuff to Home this week, including bikes, golf apparel and a golf locomotion. I was able to gain early access to these items thanks to my x7 Night Club pass (if only it was real) and me being a big golf fan, I immediately purchased the golf bundle from Lockwood’s Figment line.

I was rather pleased with how the outfit looked as well as how smooth the golf swing locomotion was. It wasn’t too fast or slow, it looked like an actual golf swing and that was wonderful. There is a “Big Swing” option, which is the full swing, a “Precision Putt” option, which is where your avatar practices his putting stroke and a “Line Up the Putt” option, which is where your avatar crouches down like a PGA Tour pro and reads the green speeds (or in this case, imaginary green) and where the ball will curve so that way he or she can make that tough putt. That would be awesome. It’s worth pointing out you do not need a golf club to to check out the golf swing locomotion which is nice so you can mess around with the other hand items in your inventory and use those as clubs as well. I used my baseball bat item with the locomotion, for example. Each animation is up to par and each have the real life perfect motions and it goes well with the golf apparel.

The golf apparel features a blue polo shirt with a white collar that comes with golf shorts that are nice and below the knees and they look baggy in a way which makes them look really cool, as they aren’t too short. Also, there are some sweet golf shoes that look like the real thing and fits well with the outfit. Not only does he outfit come with the polo shirt, shorts and shoes but it also comes with an old-fashioned golf hat like they used back in the early 1900’s like the kinds that English golf legend Harry Vardon would wear. So this is a cool yet different combination, as this brings an old school golf hat with a current polo and shorts.

Another item featured in the bundle is the best thing in it, which is a Lockwood labeled golf club in the shape of an iron (iron is the name of a particular club for those that are new to golf) and looks so realistic. That’s where the folks at Lockwood really did a great job. The shape and sculpting of the club head, the perfect length of the grip, the perfect steel representation of the shaft of the club, and it seems like it fits the avatar well no matter how short or tall he or she is.

This is a really well done virtual item by Lockwood, and they deserve a lot of credit for not only finally getting golf items in Home, but for executing the looks and style of the game of golf flawlessly. I was very impressed when I tested them out at the x7 night club (club swinging at the club, you know?). The idea of combining past and present was brilliant especially when the club looks so realistic, like it should.

So if you’re a golf fan or if you just want to get it just so you can pretend you’re Jack Nicklaus or Rory McIlroy for the fun of it, then you should check these items out! Each item is sold sepratley as well, so if you’re not sure if you want the bundle, you can at least give the club locomotion a try, or try on some of the clothes. Hopefully, we will see more golf items and locomotions in the future! Perhaps we will see some new clubs and a variety of clothing colors, which I’m sure that will be next if the golf items are well received. I would love to see a driver club. This is a unique approach by Lockwood and I like the direction.

VEEMEE has some new goodies as well which I got exclusively at the x7 club. These are new bike locomotions, and the thing I love about theses are the variety they have. Instead of being the same thing with different colors (which is fine too), these bikes actually have totally different styles to choose from. You can choose between a BMX, Mountain, Road, Penny Farther, and Hot Rod. The choices are nice and gives one a chance to be like a virtual collector like with toys when they have a variety of choices and they say, “Collect them all!”

That’s how I look at this, and it’s really a cool idea. This is a very smart marketing move by VEEMEE and will definitely help get more people to buy their bikes by providing such a wide variety. No, there aren’t different colors for each kind of bike, but the different styles really have your mind spinning as you’re picking.

Unlike previously released bikes, the VEEMEE bikes do not pop wheelies, but each bike has its own style on how you ride them. I got the road bicycle, and riding through Home pretending like I was in the middle of the Tour de France. The road bike will have your avatar riding like a biking pro, and it’s amazing how realistic the avatar rides it. Kudos to Veemee on this as there are certain ways to ride certain bikes and they did a great job with the road bike.

(And it’s FAST! I beat the messenger in a race in Edo! YES!)

I never checked out the other bikes, but if you guys want to check them out then you can! They’re only $2.49, making them one of the cheapest locomotions on the market.

Happy locomoting!
