Motorbikes by Lockwood, and the Laws of Supply and Demand
By Jin Lovelace, HSM team writer, videographer and fashionist
I’m no longer surprised that we can expect new locomotion items to be released in Home every week. Granted, I’ve had my fill for the commodity, and to be humbly honest, the overall aesthetic impact of these items has dwindled to the point that we are saturated with new virtual content, but still plagued by the plethora of server issues in Home.
Everywhere I turn nowadays, everybody and their mother are donning LMO vehicles. In fact, almost every brand on Home now has their own versions of the items for consumers to choose from. I personally feel that there are way too many of them for my taste, but then again, variety is always good. Especially depending upon your purpose — why you are using a LMO vehicle in the first place.
My issue, though, is not just the items, but the constant release of them. We’re provided with so many cosmetic options on these vehicles, it’s astounding. But again, marketing is about giving customers more than they desire — expand beyond their imaginations, or perhaps “boldly go where no man has gone before” might be the point I’m making here. However, this particular thing is starting to be a bit too much, for my taste.
But then we can also speak about diversity. I’m not against the release of these items, because we all desire to see certain items on Home (Fifth Element, anyone?), and I can understand one’s dream of mounting a black panther just to live out some scenes from Conan or He-Man. I guess it really depends on how you spend your money, or how you view these items (and to some extent, your virtual self) on Home.
So it was no surprise to me when I saw the announcement that Lockwood would release their own version of the LMO vehicle items. And I was not at all surprised at what type of commodity they are: motorbikes.
Now I know Lockwood is known for their diverse fashions and fantasy garb — making your dreams into reality — as well as sparkling skies and mechanical robots. So I was wondering if these bikes would have the ability to transform into giant, fighting robots that would allow you to shoot lasers at the festering mobs on Home. But I don’t think that’s what the developers had in mind.
So why did they create these bikes? My only guess can be because when it comes to Lockwood, and any item they create, they don’t just give you 100 percent – they give you 200%. Take their fashions, for example. Sure, plenty of other developers create virtual haute couture, some are priced less, some are priced more. But none of them really have the same caché as a Lockwood fashion does. What they have done is something some of the other developers in Home are just beginning to understand – instead of selling the item, they are selling the brand. And that, regardless of whether or not there is a surplus in LMOs, is key to generating sales in a market populated with multiple varieties of the same or similar item. Watches are a dime a dozen and can be purchased anywhere, but there’s only one real Rolex.
But whatever the case, I do find these bikes to be quite the intriguing innovation. The cosmetics and lines are superb. Unlike any other bikes of their type, these stray away from the typical white, black and pinks color labels. Instead, Lockwood went for the much more intriguing hue names of Anubis, Saffron, Lazaward, and English Rose. There’s more inventive color names in the Gift Machine – Viper’s Venom, Biohazard, Firestorm, and The Temptress.
As far as sheer presence goes, the bike looks sensational. The motor still runs at an idle stance to announce its lively presence, and the bike is slightly larger in size than Konami’s motorbikes. The aesthetics are there, and I wouldn’t mind giving these behemoths a spin. The price, $3.99 per-unit/$9.99 for the bundle (or 128 tokens apiece in the Gift Machine), is pretty good if you desire detail in your transportation LMO. There are four more colors available in the Gift Machine to gift your friends if you are ever so inclined. The biggest draw, however, lies within the detail that Lockwood has included, which I give them great credit for doing so. Great details, after all, are their signature.
Given that, if you’re looking to spice up your inventory with more vehicular LMOs, then look no further than the Lockwood Motorbikes, available now.

I agree it’s far too many of these being released. They can crank these out week after week but it still takes them four months to make a pair of shoes. Geesh
