Confessions of a Rewards Hunter
by RayBladeX, HSM guest contributor
Since the beginning of Home, there have been quite a few of the users who collect items from as many means necessary from Home arcade games (such as Echochrome, Ice Breaker), digital downloads (such as Namco Essentials), disc based games (such as Tekken 6) and the many many Home exclusive spaces (Midway, Sodium, Edo). For me, this is one of the many reasons I keep coming back to Home, besides chatting with friends.
In my own quest for Home rewards hunting, I couldn’t help but notice a particular user, her name is Lizette_Karen, and this is her story:
RayBladeX: Hello Liz, how are you doing today?
Lizette_Karen: I’m fine. Thank you!
RayBladeX: Before we get started, can you tell us a little bit about yourself?
Lizette_Karen: My name Is Lizette_Karen, I am from beautiful Jalisco, Mexico. I am married and have a wonderful daughter. My occupation is housewife.
RayBladeX: I first met you in the Midway 1 space, going for some rewards. How was that experience?
Lizette_Karen: It was a funny and hard experience. A friend said I couldn’t possibly finish it. It holds a special place for me.
RayBladeX: What got you started in Rewards Hunting?
Lizette_Karen: I started with Ice Breaker, then went on to Namco Essentials and eventually Xi Museum.
RayBladeX: What Home game(s) are you working on now?
Lizette_Karen: Too many to list: FUBAR, Granzella’s Fossils, Peakvox Labs, Avalon and the latest Aurora update.
RayBladeX: When not playing a game in Home, what else do you enjoy doing in Home?
Lizette_Karen: I like to do some virtual shopping and talk with my friends.
RayBladeX: Besides playing Home, what types of games do you like?
Lizette_Karen: I enjoy the Sims 3, Final Fantasy 13, Uncharted 2/3, Resident Evil 6 and now the latest Tomb Raider.
RayBladeX: You finished as #1 in the recent Edo Ogre Extermination Event. Can you tell us about that?
Lizette_Karen: I’m happy about the accomplishment, but also traumatized.
RayBladeX: Traumatized? How?
Lizette_Karen: I’ve never been #1 in any of the games I played before this. I played up to nineteen hours a day during the event. The first four days were very hard, but I got used to it eventually. Sometimes on the weekends my brother would also help, so it wasn’t always me playing the whole time.
(Ray’s note) When a game or event such as this has what you’d call a high level of “grinding”, this is a very smart thing to do. Enlist help of family or friends!
RayBladeX: If there is another event like the Ogre Extermination, will you play that one aggressively as well? Why and why not?
Lizette_Karen: Yes, but only to do enough for some of the items. Perhaps I will try to get in the Top Ten.
RayBladeX: Do you have any shout-outs to make for any family or friends?
Lizette_Karen: I’d like to thank my friend Melody_Nocturne for support and encouragement, Pollotata for keeping me up to date with the leaderboards in Edo, my friend Mexilverado for supplying me with NA Psn cards, and last but not least my family for supporting me.
RayBladeX: Thank you for taking the time to answer these questions, Liz!
Lizette_Karen: It’s an honor, Ray!
RayBladeX: No, the honor is mine.
Reward hunters come from all over the world, and from a wide variety of backgrounds. Each and every one of us has our own reasons for going after rewards. Is it always necessary to finish out on top? No, sometimes, it’s not even about the reward or rank itself, but the sense of accomplishment felt upon reaching that point.
Anyone can do it, and there really is no wrong way – outside of hacking – to reward hunt. All it takes is a willingness to dedicate the time.

glad to see your still writing..was wondering what happened to you..
I still use Home actively, but I haven’t made many articles here lately. Perhaps I could do more of these later =)
Ray, you probably recall that when HSM started, we used to have a Home athletes column, which were interviews with some of the top players of the games in Home. With all the new games, it would be nice to revamp that again.
(Subtle hint was not so subtle, was it? ;))
I’ll see what I can do. Think I want to interview someone who’s done a lot of games on the cheap (free play) next.
