PlayStation Home Beautiful Decorating Contest: and the Finalists are…

When it comes to judging something as subjective as good decor, it’s never an easy task. So how does one approach such a thing?
If you have ever taken a college course, you are probably familiar with the concept of a rubric. It is a method which states as objectively as possible of how a task should be performed, if it is to meet all of the expectations required to be considered. In other words, it tries to make a playing field as level as possible. And that’s why we went with the Harbour Studio as the setting for this contest. Everyone owns one, and so no one could be excluded, and is as simple and blank a canvass you can find in Home, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t have its fair share of unique highlights.
What though, were the judges looking for in terms of interior design – the content – that was created within the confines of Home’s most universal space? If you recall, the announcement stated the following criteria:
- Uniqueness of Layout;
- Use of Color;
- Functionality;
- Continuity of design;
Even with these four points, it was very difficult to narrow the choices down to the finalists. Which is why the time between closing the entry period and the announcing of the finalists was such a long one – to make sure that the entrants were thoroughly looked over and considered. They were not compared to each other, but rather how well each entry met the criteria laid out. Each judge chose the three finalists they felt filled this criteria the best.
So without further ado, I give you – in no particular order – the finalists of HSM’s PlayStation Home Beautiful Decorating Contest!

It is these nine decorators that the judges feel, in their estimation, to be the ones whose interior designs best filled the established criteria. Please join me, on behalf of the entire HSM team, on congratulating them!
So – What happens next? The judges will be requesting to take a tour of the finalists’ creations, and from there, will make their decision on who their choice will be to receive a $20 PSN card, and their space filmed for its own video to be played on our EOD channel! However, that’s not all.
The photos of the nine finalists will be uploaded to the HSM Facebook page, where you, the community, will get to vote for the finalist who will be the winner of the community choice award. This will also consist of a $20 PSN card, and a chance to have their Harbour Studio apartment to be showcased in its own video as well. Both the judges and the community will have until March 23 to choose, with their respective winners to be announced Monday, March 25. Again, as stated in the original announcement of the contest, for the sake of fairness, winning both awards will not be permitted.
Who will emerge as the winners of the contest? We have eight days to find out!
