Go New York on a Budget

New York, New York! Staten Island, Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn and the Bronx, Wall Street, The United Nations Headquarters, Central Park, Times Square. Broadway, The Empire State Building, Yankee Stadium, The Statue of Liberty.
(Did I miss any others?)
Even if you’ve never been there, you have an idea of what New York is like from movies, television, newscasts, and books. The sky-scrapers, the bridges, a multitude of taxis, the crowds, the noise, the wide diversity in cultures, communities and peoples. Yes, you know it and you love it and it’s time to go New York on Home while staying on a budget.
As Manhattan is the center of all that is New York, you’ll want a personal space with a gorgeous city view – and Sony offers two estates of this type for you to choose from. Both estates sell for $4.99 and both have unique things about them that you may prefer.
The City Penthouse is an older space on Home, with a very modern look and a fabulous night-time city view. It has two floors, with a large balcony or terrace on the lower floor, and six picture spots. The interior space is basically empty, so it’s a blank canvas for you to decorate as you choose. The terrace does have several seating areas, planters, and water features, including a waterfall. In addition to the large terrace, the downstairs area is divided into two sections by a partial wall. The upstairs area is smaller, but has a huge glass wall and a small area where you can step outside to share a small seat and the incredible view with someone. By the way – this is one of the spaces with an open air night view, where you can place fireworks and they look wonderful there.
The Tycoon Penthouse is a newer estate in a high-rise building that also has two floors; in addition it has incredible day-time city views all around through the floor-to-ceiling windows. This high-rise apartment has some areas that have predetermined uses, such as the built-in kitchen, so it’s not quite as versatile as the City Penthouse, in this regard. There is a television, rug, and fireplace in one area, which also somewhat limits how this room can be used, basically leaving little choice between a living room and a family room. You’ll enjoy many of the other features found there, such as the high ceilings; the fireplace with a burning fire; a semi-spiral staircase to the second floor; and the two story fish-tank, with sharks included. There’s even a helipad that can be reached by way of your private elevator.
There are many ways to decorate either of these estates in the “New York style” and two good choices for this are the ultra-modern style or the rich antiques style. Both estates have matching furniture in the modern style available to purchase. The City Penthouse has four rather plain pieces, consisting of two sofas, a coffee table and a display plant, which are not offered in a bundle and are priced at $.99 each, so I can’t really recommend them. The Tycoon Penthouse has a nine-piece furniture package for $6.99, which includes a large bed, sofa, bookshelf, two chairs, a desk, lamp, table and working jacuzzi. I do recommend this modern style pack for either estate.
For a rich antique look in a living room, I suggest that you purchase the Waterfall Terrace “Antique Living Room Set”. This seven-piece $4.99 set includes a sofa, two chairs, a chest of drawers, a coffee table and two kinds of throw pillows. The stained glass lamp from Sony Originals for $.99 would look great with these pieces. You may want to fill picture frames with posters of New York Broadway plays, such as “Rock of Ages” or “Wicked” for a modern look and pictures of older, famous works of art for an antique look. Pictures of art from the Renaissance period would look especially fitting.
When dressing for the New York look, you’ll want to look as sophisticated and stylish as possible. I suggest the red business suit from Threads for $.49 each piece (jacket, skirt and shoes) for the ladies. Codeglue offer a woman’s business suit for $1.49 in black, if you prefer. The guys will also want a business look that’s stylish. One of the Valentine’s suits from Jam Games for $1.49 would look great. This suit is offered with a in two color combinations of black and red and white and pink, but the dark suit has the more sophisticated look. Codeglue also offers a man’s business suit for $1.49 in black that would be suitable for this mode.
For evening wear, the ladies will want long elegant dresses in the latest style and the guys will want a tuxedo that fits superbly. There are a number of these clothing items to choose from, such as the Cosmopolitan Glamor dress from Konami’s Fashionista line (which is available in four colors) and the Tuxedo from Codeglue for $1.49 for the guys. You might want to add the $.49 tuxedo top hat from Threads Originals to complete the look.
You’ll probably want to have at least two dance packs or even a multiple dance pack for high-style New York partying. So many choices are being offered by various developers, such as Atom Republic, Granzella, Konami, Lockwood and nDreams, that there’s sure to be something to please almost anyone’s taste.
I hope you enjoy the style and sophistication of a New York look and have fun trying out these ideas and other ideas of your own. Always look through what you own before making additional purchases and remember to stick to your budget.
