Lockwood’s Dream Universe
by Burbie52, HSM team writer
Life is hard for many of us, myself included. We work, we try to make ends meet, and hopefully have a little at the end of the month to put aside for the future. We dream about what we would do if we won that multi-million dollar lotto, or a distant relative unexpectedly left us a fortune.
It’s fun to dream, it is fun to think about what we would do in those situations — where would we spend it, where would we go or what would we do? What would your life look like if money was not an issue? If you had all the time in the world to do what you like, and live where you want? Your life might look a lot like the Dream universe that Lockwood Publishing has brought to PlayStation Home.
Lockwood has been building this mini-universe within the Home community for the past couple of years. It began with the Dream Yacht, winner of the AlphaZone4 Best Personal Space award for 2011. They have followed that with Dream Island, the Arctic Dream Yacht and now the new Dream Hideaway. On the wardrobe side, Lockwood’s Figment line provides luxurious garments for the owners of the Dream spaces to wear. It seems that Lockwood intends to continue to add to their Dream Universe with a continual stream of high class products with the same theme, a sort of virtual “Lifestyles of The Rich and Famous.”
All of the Dream personal spaces have one thing in common — they are excessive in their luxury. Even the environments they have been placed in are extraordinary, out of the way places that few people on earth will ever get to see. However, all of this extravagance is very understated, not gaudy and gold like the Mansion. These are spaces you would actually want to live in, opulent but realistically rendered, and incredibly beautiful.
Now Lockwood has decided to add to their public spaces with Dream Central, a space totally dedicated to showcasing the Dream line of products. Here, you will have access to all of the Dream spaces at your fingertips, with a little theater dedicated to video walk-through and what look like portals to the public versions of these spaces, or perhaps kiosks to let you purchase your own, all in the same place.
This is a smart move on Lockwood’s part, bringing it all together like they have with their other public showcase spaces, the Gift Shop and Lockwood HQ. And it adds to the sense of immersion they are creating for this particular line of products.
As you can see in the video, the space itself looks a lot like the Dream Island, Dream Yacht and Blaster Personal spaces. It will be interesting to see what Lockwood intends to do with the doors that have blank signs in front of them as they expand the product line. Their additions of two of these spaces to their gift machines have probably been wildly successful, if the people on my friends list are any indicator. Many of them own both giftable Dream spaces! It makes me wonder if Lockwood plans to continue down that marketing road or put more spaces up for sale outright.
Whatever path they choose, it will be something we will all look forward to, because one thing we can always be certain of with Lockwood is the quality that they stand for, quality shines through everything they create. I will be waiting to see what new additions they come up with for their little Dream universe within the Home community.

This is a great idea sweeping Home right now. First the Loot Space Station and now Lockwood. I think going to a hub place and sampling a space before you buy is a smart idea. Thanks for bringing this to our attention Burbie!
