Galaxy Express 999 in PlayStation Home — Universe Explodes From Too Much Awesomeness

by NorseGamer, HSM Editor-in-Chief

There are people who will read this article and wonder why there’s so much caps lock and hyperbole over Galaxy Express 999 arriving in Home. Pay no attention to these people. They are mentally defective.

It’s gotten to the point where the Sony forum is about as coherent and rational as Alex Jones. Every week an avalanche of new content is released, and inevitably you get the following responses: the prices are too high, this stuff is crap, look at our mad copypasta skills, when are we gonna get the good stuff, SCEA sucks, SCEA doesn’t listen to me, SCEA doesn’t care about me, SCEA made a kitten cry, SCEA is fail and by the way make me an HCV. And thus when awesome stuff does come out, it’s in real danger of being overlooked in the weekly onslaught of butt-hurt woe-is-me agendas, and it gets to the point where my eyeball is twitching and Sam Jackson needs to go in there and straighten everybody out.

The awesome stuff in question?

Galaxy Express 999 is now in Home.

GalaxyExpress999

Let me rephrase that, for absolute factual accuracy:

OMFG GALAXY EXPRESS 999 IS IN HOME OMG OMG EPIC OMG PURE WIN OMG NATALIE PORTMAN JESSICA ALBA BAR REFAELI OMG PETER JACKSON MOVIES OMG VAN HALEN OMG OMG BOOM

You may be wondering what “Galaxy Express 999″ is. GE999 is a magnificent manga and anime created by Leiji Matsumoto. And we’re not talking about some watered-down crap that Hasbro marketed to the American heartland; we’re talking about something so awesome that it’s the anime equivalent of the Konami code. No, for real. GE999 is that quiet girl in the corner of the photograph who’s mega-brainy and fulfills all your fantasies but no one paid attention to her because they were going after the blonde cheerleader with the dimples. Ignore the cheerleader. The cheerleader is a cup of flat Sprite. What we’re talking about here is a Jägerbomb.

(In case you don’t know who Matsumoto Leiji is: he is a twelve-foot-tall mechanized Greek god who invented sliced bread, the subatomic particle and Chuck Norris.)

harlock999So now you can own a couple of iconic Galaxy Express outfits: Tetsuro and Maetel. And will I own the Tetsuro outfit? Like a fat kid supersizing his Burger King breakfast. And you’re going to buy these outfits, too. Yes, you are. Because if we are going to hold out any hope of getting more Toei-related commodities in Home, we need to make the numbers look good. Liam Neeson will show up at your house and whomp the Fritos out of you if you don’t buy these outfits. This is the closest we’ve come to having Captain Harlock apparel in Home, and so help me, if Home doesn’t get Captain Harlock because the whiny kids on the forum are too busy giving kudos to each others’ pointless condemnations of Home, I will have to replace Sony’s moderation team with Chev Chelios, Machete and Jack Reacher if Jack Reacher had been played by Dwayne Johnson.

Galaxy Express 999 is in PlayStation Home. The world is a better place.

Writing to report that I have done my part and purchased these items.

Also, dunno if anyone knows, or if it’s still on, but both Galaxy Express 999 and Space Pirate Captain Harlock have been playing on the EOD.

I knew about Harlock, thats where I learned it was only subtitle in english. I grew up with it translated in french. Gotta check on Galaxy Express 999.

  5. Hi there,

I work for Boom-Corporation in Japan, we made the content you talked about and are super happy you like our stuff. We’re big fans of Galaxy Express 999 just like you guys. This is just the first week of content coming. You can expect more on the 23rd and the 6th of February.

Just as a little spoiler, yes Captain Harlock is coming and he looks great! We had made a conductor costume but due to reasons I cant disclose we were unable to release the awesomeness that is the Conductor!

Please support these products so that we can make more awesome work from TOEI animation.
