LOOT EOD Adds the HomeStation Channel

by NorseGamer, HSM Editor-in-Chief

This is an announcement I’ve looked forward to posting for quite a while.

There are very few means for the Home community to express itself, on a large scale, within the world of Home. The most effective and efficient means would be LOOT’s Entertainment On Demand service, which recently began hosting the PSTalent channel in addition to Crackle, RadioIO and other services.

And now, a new community outlet joins LOOT’s EOD: the HomeStation Network.

So: what can you expect from the HSM channel? In short, a mixture of news commentary and art-house music videos.

homecast-rewind1For those of you who followed HearItWow in the Community Theater, check out his HomeCast Flash episodes, offering some fantastic pointers and tips for Home’s popular gaming experiences. Sue is currently tinkering with HomeCast right now, and you can see a proof-of-concept video on the channel.

In addition, we also have some episodes of our podcast series, The Upload, filmed and edited by Jersquall! These fifteen-minute episodes focus in on various events that take place in Home, and our commentary thereof.

And, from Keara22HI and Godzprototype, we have some stylistic music videos featuring various locales in Home, often telling brief snippets of story along the way.

There’s about two hours of original content in our debut, and you can rest assured that we’ll be adding more as time goes on. Some of the content is evergreen, but with so much going on in Home these days, it’s going to take a lot of Hauppauge PVR machines to keep up! Fortunately, we’ve had a year to to get our feet wet — an invaluable learning curve which has, hopefully, given us a running start with this new endeavor. With each successive machinima project, we learn and grow — hopefully entertaining you along the way.

EODThe idea behind the HSM channel is to be an outlet for creative community expression; we are not a dedicated machinima production studio, nor is filmmaking our primary field of expertise, but if we can make you laugh or inspire your own creativity, then we feel like we’ve done our jobs as a community media site.

Special thanks really must be given to the fantastic people at LOOT, who brought HSM into Home and have given the community yet another avenue for creative expression. Without their continual support and enormous generosity, this channel would not exist. It can be said that perhaps the ultimate “goal” of Home, for the consumer, is to use it as an avenue for creativity — and thanks to LOOT, this dream is now a reality.

From all of us at team HSM, we hope you enjoy the HomeStation Network!

In the words of the man from Duck Dynasty… This makes me happy happy happy… Last year when when I was told my Terra and Norse- practice your craft because something big is in the works..Something to those words..This is a big deal for the Home community. Not only does HSM allow the Nation of Avatars to express their creative writing styles here but as you now see HSM fosters growth in the field of machinima style videos. Between our hugely successful Podcasts, HomeCast and the other original content produced by this team, The Home Community has another outlet in which to sit back be entertained and informed.
The HomeStation Network is a vision I have had for awhile and to see it finally come to fruition is something that leaves me speechless. While we still have The Spotlight Show and PST in the Community Theater, we know have another source of user generated media thanks to the people at LOOT! Their confidence in our idea for the HomeStation Network is a testament I believe in the magazines ability to deliver quality product repeatedly and consistently to the community.
We will see you in PlayStation Home…Mahalo, Sue
