Locomotion: nDreams Brings Us the Wheel
by Burbie52, HSM team writer
The wheel has been around since before recorded history. No one really knows who invented the first one, but its invention quite literally changed the entire world. Before the wheel, man had much more limitation in not only the distance he could travel but also the weight he could carry. It made work easier in innumerable ways, from moving earth on a farm to the modern day uses we have today. Just think of what the world would be like without the wheel; it boggles the mind.
One of the most popular wheeled vehicles ever invented is the bicycle. I bet all of us have had one and learned to ride it in our lifetimes. It has to be almost a universal phenomenon when you think about it. If you look around the world you will find bikes in a variety of styles almost everywhere. In some countries, they are the preferred mode of transportation.
Since the last core update which gave us locomotion abilities, there have been many different kinds coming into Home at a rapid pace. From wings to skateboards, from hovercraft to roller skates. I have heard many people ask if cars would be available to use, and though Home Tycoon gives us that in a way, I somehow can’t imagine a lot of cars running around in Home; their size alone would prohibit that.
Others have been asking for motorcycles, and I know there are hoverbikes from Atom Republic coming in pretty soon to quench that thirst. But there are also some other new bikes coming into Home: one is a good, old-fashioned BMX bicycle from nDreams, complete with the capability to do wheelies. And the other: they have brought in a new idea that looks like a motorized unicycle, but very sleek and futuristic in design. They are calling them the Monocles.
These two new ideas are a great step in the Home evolution of locomotions; people love anything with wheels, and that has been shown ever since their creation. Motorized vehicles and bicycles are big business in the real world, so anything with wheels is bound to do well here in Home also.
The BMX bike and motorized unicycle come in a few different colors: red, green, gray and yellow. I am not sure on the pricing for these, but nDreams will probably do it right, especially since this is kind of a new piece of the market in locomotion items — and with the onslaught of new things in this category, they need to keep in line with what is already in the marketplace.
Along with the wheeled additions there is another personal flying locomotion that makes you look like Cole McGrath from Infamous, flying around in Home with electricity flowing from your hands, called Electro Flight. This will probably be very popular with the people who liked that video game. It is very interesting to see the direction some of these locomotions are taking.
Wheels are just the next evolution in these new abilities; we have skates, skateboards and now bikes. I think we will continue to see more of these types of products in Home as locomotion goes into the new year. At least, I hope so. Kudos to nDreams for bringing a longed-for addition to Home; after all, everyone likes a good bike ride.
