If You Had A $100 PSN Card
by Kassadee Marie, HSM team writer
It’s just after Christmas. You put your new clothes in your closet and the pajamas from your grandmother in your dresser. You’ve listened to all of your new CDs for hours on end, and you’ve eaten enough chocolate and baked goodies to last an average person for at least a year. You received that disc-based game you wanted, and you stayed up playing it for two days straight until your fingers were numb and your eyes were blurry, and then finally got some sleep.
What is there to do with the remainder of your Winter vacation? I suggest you pull out that $100.00 PSN card you got from Santa, jump onto Home and go on a shopping spree. But, remember this: just because you’re a hundred-aire now, doesn’t mean you should shop with abandon — even that amount can be gone faster than you realize, if you don’t put some thought into your purchases. Don’t splurge and regret.
So, it’s time to plan. First, answer this question: What do you spend most of your time doing in Home?
If your answer is “playing games,” you’ll want to look into some upgrades to enhance your playing experience. Cutthroats was re-vamped a while back, and they added some really cool items. How about a captain’s hat that prevents mutiny, or a jacket that gives you unlimited mines?
If you like Mercia but aren’t getting the most out of it, how about upgrading your weapons and armor?
Are you a Novus Prime: Vindication enthusiast? Now you can buy the Obsidian Bladewalker suit, or a Power-Mech suit and a matching companion, and paint your space ship in the style you want. You can become the mayor of an awesome town in Home Tycoon by buying expansion packs, building packs and a new city plot.
Or how about some new clothes and weapons from Uproar, or buying some FUBAR Warbucks so you can pick up some upgrade items for that game?
If you love to decorate, here’s your chance to buy several of the top-of-the-line personal estates and decorate them with everything you like best. There’s a wide variety to choose these days, from LOOT’s Space Apartment to Lockwood’s Dream Yacht to Heavy Water’s Avalon Keep – or buy all three, because they all come with free furniture. If the bling style of the Sony mansion has drawn your eye, you can pick up all four pieces of the estate and decorate it in style. And this will be your chance to give a ton of gold reward items to your friends. You can buy those club skins that you’ve been wanting, or get a package that offers both a space and a matching clubhouse, such as Men in Black, or the Palace of the Seven Winds bundles.
Some top of the line items, such as Digital Leisure’s largest aquarium (Ultimate Aquarium Bundle Pack) or something from the Exclusives store, such as Heavy Water’s Ultimate Gold Knight Bundle, can be yours now if you want them. Do seriously consider picking up the EOD and/or RadioIO package(s) from LOOT, which work in almost every estate on Home. In the EOD collection, you’ll find a TV sized for every personal space. You’ll get nine music “looks” in the RadioIO bundle, from a reel-to-reel tape deck to a pink mini boombox, and also a lovely retro juke box, which is exclusive to the package. It’s perfect for a 50’s diner look, by the way.
After rummaging through the Lockwood store to pick up the furniture, decorating items and clothes that look good and for the right price, how about gifting your friends with items from their wish lists? Here’s your chance to pick up a fabulous bathroom set and send one just as great to a good friend. Or even gift a special friend with their own estate, either the new Dream Yacht: Arctic Voyage or the Sunlit Meadow. Both of these spaces are very desirable.
Speaking of gifting, you can also gift your friends with Home Tycoon gold coins and Juggernaut coins — a great feature at this time of year.
Juggernaut has so many items at such good prices, you could spend your whole $100.00 there, if you aren’t careful. But, the estates, furniture, clothing and active items are so innovative, you might just want to buy them all! The Winter Adventure pack is an especially great bargain, and has wonderful and fun winter-time active items, with low furniture slot counts. You will receive sixteen items, of which twelve are active items. Not all of these are Christmas themed — the rest will still be suitable all winter long.
Are you a social creature who likes to jump from space to space on Home, meeting friends and making new ones? Do you like to suit your clothes to your location? If so, now is the time to invest in every type of clothing for any conceivable space you might want to visit. Why not have a swimsuit for every day of the week for your trips to Glittering Sands Beach or Southern Island Hideaway? You can get a set from LOOT and then splurge at Granzella for a bunch more. It’s winter, so pick up those heavy coats, gloves, hats, and scarves for visits to Yeti Central Plaza, or any private space where you make it snow with the free Essence of Winter orb from Juggernaut. And don’t forget the parties you’ll be going to for New Year’s. You’re going to need several special outfits for those occasions. Lockwood, in particular has a nice selection of fancy dress clothes and Exclusives has the Platinum Suit Bundle for the guys and the Elegant Onyx Gown Bundle for the ladies.
With consideration of how you spend your time on Home and some careful shopping you can have months of fun with your $100.00 worth of purchases – longer than you would play most disc games – and you can share the fun with your friends.
Happy Holidays to you — and Happy Shopping!
I would suggest saving at least $20 for January 9th, in preparation for the content Peakvox Ninja will bring. That’s what I’ve been doing. ;P
Once again you have opened my eyes to endless possibilities on home. Thanks for being so informative Kassadee.
I remember when I stated spending money on home, my first shopping spree to establish the “basic D-Little”… Yep, a $100 can go really fast. But I still enjoy many things I bought then.
I would not suggest to go for the “big pack” first unless you are absolutly sure you love the game or will enjoy a set for a long period. With maye Juggernaut as an execption. These guys really know waht a bundle price mean!
Novus? Start with the speed matrix boots. $2 and it will greatly change your game play. Then you could go to the mighty Blade if you really like it.
Honestly, that card would last me for a year at the minimum. I couldn’t find $100 worth of merchandise that I’d want to buy. Plus, I generally prefer to have some wallet funds available to use whenever something catches my fancy.
