HomeCast for Sept 8th 2012

by Susan, HSM team writer

“Welcome to HomeCast, where we bring you what’s new and notable in PlayStation Home.”

Almost anyone who frequents PlayStation Home at one time or another has heard these words of HearItWow’s. Back in the day when I was trying to keep off the casting couch at PSTalent and focus on my craft, I stumbled upon this show in the Community Theater.

This guy with the funny earring  and the sexy voice was informing the community on how to play the games on Home and earn rewards. He showed us new clothing items, new content coming out, and kept reminding us why we were logging into Home every day. I loved this show, but I was nowhere ready to even consider asking him if I could be a part of it. So imagine my surprise, after I had been making machinima for a while, when he approached me at a HSM party and asked if I wanted to join the HomeCast team.

Let’s just say that behind the controller, I screamed into a pillow like a excited teenager.

How do you say no to Mr. Home? I didn’t  know what to say. He’s asking me – ME – to join his team. We talked for a bit, and then he springs it on me.  He wants me to capture video for his show and send it to him.

This cannot be happening, I thought to myself, this is a Wayne and Garth dream. Commence more pillow-muffled screams.

After much more discussion about things, we came to an arrangement to this day I still think about. That was almost a year ago. I continued to feed him video clips for his show and be an actress for him as well. The cast he had in place was very professional, and I was really impressed with his procedures and techniques. He made me his number two producer on the team. Eventually he gave me the chance to have my videos be the A-block segment of his show. My task was to get video for Wardrobe Wars.

I have continued to gather video for HomeCast. Then things started to change. Shortly after HomeCast began running under the HSM banner, HearItWow became increasingly more active in his personal roll as an on-air radio personality out of Boston. It became clear that HomeCast might have to stop.

I couldn’t let this happen. The Home community loves his show and it is a piece of Home that cannot just simply die. After some meetings and several glasses of Namco sodas, I get asked the question,”Do you want to take over Home Cast while HearItWow handles his real life commitments?”

No more screaming into the pillow now. I used my poker face and said, “Well okay, if you think I can do it.”

If there was ever a time I bit off more than I could chew, this was it. I never produced something of this magnitude. I made cute little fashion videos for the staff at HSM and a thank-you video to NorseGamer and Terra_Cide. Take over production of HomeCast? Sure, I can do it. Trust me, said the spider to the fly.

This was almost two months ago. I am six weeks behind the deadline and I am still not happy with it.

My husband says, “You do not serve the steak until it is ready.”

My editor says, “Where is my video?”

My host says, “Where is my script?’

Oy.

In this issue of HomeCast, we cover the release of Lockwood Publishing’s P.O.D.I., the ultimate fireworks machine, as well as the Global release of nDreams’ Blueprint: Home. What is different this time is we included ads for some of the spaces and games found in Home. A new set was designed somewhere inside the LOOT space station and  we tried to incorporate a club ad as well. In this issue, I also placed a code for a hoodie for your avatar that is from AlphaZone4, the one-stop place to find out about all of the Home rewards and items available for your avatar and personal spaces.

Earlier I made the statement that I bit off more than I could chew, and I still think I may have. Opportunity only comes a knocking once in a blue moon usually. Yes there are some flaws with this episode of Homecast. It is my first time doing this.

The thing is, I am still chewing and asking for more. I hope you enjoy this episode of HomeCast and I look forward to making  the next one coming your way soon.

Just not six weeks later.

    • Susan says:

As an avid fan of your content. It was my pleasure showcasing your products. My favorite part of all this was the Sodium 2 Advertisement..I keep tapping my foot to the music and I really like the shots that were used..I kept trying to write an announcer script for it,but it kept coming up short and not to my liking. Thank you sir for all you do for the Home Community and thank you for your kind words. As promised..I can pay you for these remarks in Sodium credits if that is ok… :) jk…
