Lockwood Comes to E3

by Terra_Cide, HSM Managing Editor

With all the excitement revolving around E3 this week, it’s easy to overlook what’s in store for Home, and yes, chances are a good majority of the content will be limited edition items created exclusively for the event.

This year though, one of the community’s favorite developers also has some sweet freebies available.

You might have seen Monday’s tweets from both HSM and AlphaZone4 that Norse and Cubes kinda, sorta accidently kidnapped the founders of Lockwood the evening before E3 started. Don’t worry though – they were returned safe and sound. Now this doesn’t in any way mean that what comes next in this PR piece contains insider information going on at Lockwood. Sorry to get your hopes up, but you see, just like Mount Olympus, what goes on in LA stays in LA (except for all the really slick press conferences – that is something they do want you see and know about).

So today, when the E3 booth goes live in Home, Lockwood will have their own rewards available – outfits for both male and female.

Let me repeat that in simpler terms: free clothing. From Lockwood.

Let’s take a quick look, shall we?

Both guys and gals will be able dress up as booth babes or hunks; ladies will be in form-fitting boyshorts and and orange bikini with lanyard. Guys will be wearing just a pair of shorts, a lanyard and a smile. A bit too much skin for your tastes? There’s always a denim overshirt for the guys with a backpack, and a graphic tee with the LKWD lion and a backpack for the ladies.

Also be on the lookout for LKWD Limited Edition items, available at the 2012 SCEA E3® Booth in Home. You may have already seen some of these items out and about already, as those with x7 access get the chance to purchase these items in advance.

Personally, I don’t quite see why there are those that have to be the “first” to own an item in Home, but looking at the top ten list for last month, what do I know? Given the “me first!” rush I see all too often in getting the news out regarding the weekly updates amongst various community members and organizations that cover the goings-on in Home, I feel it safe to say that it must be the same mentality.

On top of that, but by completing the quests at the E3 booth will grant you access to the VIP lounge, where you can learn more about Lockwood’s most anticipated offering for Home yet – Mercia.

It kind of goes without saying that Lockwood is one of the developers in Home that is having quite the banner year, and their presence at E3 is certainly a sign of bigger things to come. Here’s some things to keep in mind when contemplating the magnitude of epic awesomeness that Lockwood has the potential to release upon Home, or potentially elsewhere on the SEN, for that matter:

  • They created the Streetfighter vs. Tekken, Uncharted 3, Dead Island, and Killzone 3 TGIs
  • They created Yetis vs. Hunters minigame
  • They created the Alien Casino
  • They are the developers of the E3 space

And that’s not including the crazy amount of fun you can have for five bucks in the form of Sodium One, or the freemium-based Sodium 2.

With such projects already on their corporate CV, it truly does mean the sky’s the limit for what Lockwood could produce. There’s no doubt Mercia is just the tip of what is a really big iceberg, and the way they’re building up our expectation is absolutely perfect. Whatever else they have coming for us this year is no doubt bound to be exciting.

Lockwood Rocks as always!! Love the Mercia advert, only wish they had a reward attached to it like the rest, oh well can’t have everything, but what they do have is awesome so far!
