Home’s Project Runway

by Phoenix, HSM team writer

Many people believe Home offers many of the things we find in real life. This is the appeal for the masses here.

Houses and clubs, movies, live events, specials, realistic sunsets and skies, insects, wind effects, fashion shows, modeling games, gambling, pirates on the high seas…
yes, Home has something for every interest.

This brings me to the point of this article. Home is the also the home of a fan adaptation of a popular TV show — a fashion show where designers are made. Home has its very own (unofficial) Project Runway.

I recently met the producer, director and creative force behind this show here in Home. PrincessDomaro-, a member of PSTalent and founder of badd-inc.webs.com, an entertainment modeling agency in Home. PrincessDomaro- is the Home resident that saw an opening for such a show and brought it to this platform, while Badd Inc. is the group’s name. This is their fifth season of the show. I had the opportunity to be at one of their shoots, and I was wowed by the way the show is organized and kept true to its real-world counterpart. Of course, being set in Home lends some creative license to the design part of the show. The designers are limited to what they have in their own wardrobes and what’s available in Home. Granted, “limited” may be the wrong word. If you think there is a limit to the fashion these Home residents encounter, you don’t know the fashion world in Home. Home has something for everyone. Some of the models have been known to shop for content out of their own pockets to make their designer’s look happen. Talk about dedication!

Just as designers in the real show do, designers here in Home come up with designs for the projects given to them. Currently, PSH Project Runway runs two shows per week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. There’s even a Badd Inc. modeling class held on Fridays for the users who model the various designer outfits. Designers who become finalists present an entire ten-piece collection, utilizing three models, in order to showcase their own personally chosen concept.

The competition is fierce. The designers must use what they can to design a look that embodies the theme given. The possibilities are only limited by imagination. The challenge I was invited to was Modernizing a Past Trend. I can tell you it was amazing. There is so much fashion at hand here from Home’s developers that these designers have found a way to give the opportunity to let the creative spirit fly in Home — and Badd Inc., the group behind PSH Project Runway, honor that creativity in their contestants, both designer and model alike. They shine a light on that spirit and reward the talent of each season of production. When asked about this experience, PrincessDomaro- said, “We make fashion stars here in Home.”

Though it is a competition, and there are judges — for the current Project Runway season, two permanent (PrincessDomaro- and Bubblebabii) and two guest judges (Shikari and tbaby) — the contestants are always spoken to with respect. They are judged and dismissed on the weight of their designs in that show. With every challenge there is a winner, and someone leaves the competition. But everyone is treated with the kindness and respect I spoke of. Then, of course, there are the competitors that are safe for another week.  These lucky contestants are given the challenge theme for the next episode.

Each show is shot by a photographer (Adam Bell) for PRDesigners. The shows are then placed on the badd-inc.webs.com website. If you’re interested in looking at some of the past competitions, check out the photos there. If you’re a fashion buff and Home fashion excites you, check out the site. You can maybe get to know this season’s contestants, find a favorite, and perhaps follow the fashion showcased there. I think these Home residents are worth a look with what their doing.

Most of us think Home is a place where we can be who we want to be. When I asked PrincessDomaro- what she had in mind when she decided to recreate this fashion-conscious reality show here in the virtual reality world of Home, she said, “Home gives everyone the opportunity to be whomever they can create…and most do. But some here are shy, or have no idea what they want to do on Home. Some have an interest in fashion in the real world but may never get the chance, either to be a model or designer. Here in Home they can achieve fashion stardom in one or both, and be recognized for it.”

The contestants are able to voice their ideas and strut their stuff before the judges. Their ideas are made reality in the fertile environment of Home’s virtual world. Their confidence is evident in the way they take to the runway in each episode. This is possible in part due to the sheer volume of fashion available from Home, which is in itself staggering!

Fashion is a big part of Home. From the retro look of the flappers and gangsters of the twenties, and even further back in history with the Bonk clothing, to the psychedelic designs of the sixties, Home has so much to offer in the way of fashion, making the concept of a virtual Project Runway an excellent vehicle for Home fashion.

Season five of this virtual Project Runway runs through July, with a possible show finale on July 27 (this could change). If you’re interested in the show in general, check it out. If you are interested in being a part of the fashion world here in Home, just look around. Home has something for everyone, and Home keeps pace with its residents. If it can be envisioned by the developers or us the residents, it will come to Home.

If you’re interested in seeing an episode of the show live here in Home, contact PrincessDomaro-. If some of you would-be designers are interested in possibly being a part of the fashion happenings, maybe we’ll see you in season six of Home’s Project Runway!

The people I had the opportunity to observe were mentioned. The two groups which I am sure encompasses more names, then I have listed were also mentioned. badd-inc.com and PRDesigners. Once again the “People” at PRDesigners honor the creativity in Home and it’s users.

      Thank You

Well, unfortunately you left out one of the hardest working members on the team next to Dom, and that is May2099.
Come back next season and see who’s still there and that might give you better insight to any more articles you may write about us.

I had heard about this group from a friend before. I love the way that people in Home get so creative with the tools we are given. Good job to everyone involved with this.

I personally LOVE the way this article was written. And think you covered what needed to be covered. If you ask me this article was very well written. You have brought a lot of attention to the show and we TRULY appreciate that. We can’t thank you enough.

It’s a neat concept, I was a fan of the first few seasons of the actual show, and what I loved most about it was the creativity of the designers. This really read more like a top model challenge than a project runway challenge. But it’s cool to see variations of the user generated entertainment concepts with existing in-Home content.

Hello, I am the owner of the operation, and founder of Badd Incorporated. I would just like to say, other than a few errors in information, this article is fine. It was clearly about what phoenix saw, and she did alright. (:

Great article Phoenix! TY for writing about the show and ty for the mention. I have been with Project Runway since the 2nd season last year as a model and this season, decided to try being a judge. I have known Princess Dom and Bubbles since Project Runway 2 and the reason I have stayed with it all this time is that I truly believe that it is the most unique fashion competition on PS Home. I have not yet seen it’s equal on PS Home and have been promoting the show since I became involved with it.

I do know that May had been with the show since the beginning as the runner up of season 1 and a judge for all the subsequent seasons leading up to season 5 for which she decided to be an elite model. When I started in PR2, I saw Adam Bell as the photographer for the show who also posted all the pics to the website.

Between Project Runway 3 and 4, there was The Modeling Project, which was more of a competition for the models in which the ones who survived would go on to become official Badd-Inc models for subsequent Project Runway shows (myself being one of them and also attaining “Elite” status). As a model, this was one of the most fun seasons for me. I wanted to mention that season because it was there that I got to really see some great work by Adam Bell as a photographer because we did these photo shoots with him for each weekly challenge. He is a real life photographer and it was evident with the way he ran the shoots, which were always fun to do. Also, it was during this season that I really got to see May’s skills in designing the elaborat sets for the photo shoots as well as the workroom and runway clubs. I know May is a graphic designer in real life and her talents from her work showed in what she did for the show on Home. I believe she had designed runways for previous shows as well.

Of course Princess Dom is the one who came up with the idea for the show last year and I am so thankful she did. She has dealt with so much for the show (as have all the staff) and has also been studying fashion in real life as well as being a teacher. Her knowledge of fashion shows up in the many different challenges that she comes up with as well as the way she deliberates at the end of each show. She has always been professional and it has been a pleasure being in her show all over the past year.

I am also thankful to May for telling me about the show after a club meeting one night. I had no idea that it was going to be something that I would be sticking with all this time!

One of the great things about being in the show are the friendships. I of course have been friends with Dom & May since PR2. I have been friends with one of the other judges, Bubbles, who Phoenix also mentioned, since PR2 when I met her as a judge in that show. Her and I have kept in touch since then and it has been fun judging along side of her for the 1st time this season. miss_evie was the winner of season 2 and became a judge starting with season 3, but I didn’t really become friends with her until the Modeling Project. I have helped miss_evie with her own very unique fashion show called so.evo (http://so-evo.webs.com), which I also encourage you to check out. Another person who I think is instrumental in past seasons and also someone who I have become friends with through the show is Rob (quasar338). It is exciting to see both the new faces in Project Runway as well as the familiar ones. But no matter what, Project Runway is truly a great venue for PS Home and I encourage all who read this to attend a show!

Sorry for my long comments, but I have been actually wanting to write an article about my experiencing being in Project Runway, but unfortunately have not found the time to write that article. I am so glad that Phoenix wrote this to inform people about this great show on PS Home. Last night’s show was recorded and so please be on the look out for the video on youtube soon!

I think you just found the time, tbaby. Nice article, comment. I am glad your experience has been a good one with all, the people at project runway. I had thought mine was, but I was wrong. Again nice article.
