Phoenix Through the Home Portal: Another World

by Phoenix, HSM team writer and filmmaker

Like the episode before this one, this little serial is very loosely based on Through the Looking Glass, by Lewis Carroll, 1832-1898.

Spinning and spinning, falling and falling, Phoenix found herself in yet another strange new world.

What would she find here? she wondered. But she was not afraid. The land of Molten Gold, and its Queen, had been most kind.

That world had been very strange. She still could not imagine a world where people worshiped gold. How silly, she had thought. Why would people think gold or riches were something to hold in such high esteem? Those people had piled so much of it that they had no way of spending it all. It just sat there, gleaming and glowing. And oh, it was hard on the eyes! After a while, hers had adjusted. Though the people were nice, Phoenix was glad to leave that land.

This world she found herself in now seemed very different from the last…very different indeed! It was not one of mono-colors. It was bright and very colorful. There didn’t seem to be any Queen or King. It seemed like a world of impossibilities, but so had the Land of Molten Gold.

Phoenix took a long look around her, once she was steady enough to do so. That pastry on the Queen’s dresser had been sweet and very delicious, but the effect…well that wasn’t what she’d expected. How could a sweet transport her to another world? And why hadn’t it taken her home? What would she find in this place? Would the inhabitants be kind, and would they welcome her?

Once she found her footing, Phoenix walked towards what looked like a metal arch. As she approached, she saw crowds of people moving toward the same arch.

“Excuse me,” she called to the person closest to her.

A woman dressed in colorful clothing had been about to reach the arch. She turned to respond. “Yes?”

“What is this place?” asked Phoenix.

“Why, it’s the land of Dreams,” the woman replied.

“The Land of Dreams?” Phoenix asked, her curiosity piqued.

This is a very creative and interesting way to show spaces in Home Phoenix. It has the makings of a great series, I wonder where she will end up next?

:) Ty Burbie. Whenever I sign on to Home I wonder what kind of adventure I will have that day. I think life is best if we keep an adventurous heart. Home helps with that.

Good continuation Phoenix. I agree with Burbie, this is a clever way to tour the lands under this Alice-esque story. (clap clap clap)
