Home Vistas II

by Phoenix, HSM team writer

This is the second installment of Home Vistas, in which I want to show you more spaces that rival real-world vistas outside of Home.

You may have thought you had seen all the views  in Home in the first of my films. But I wonder if you have? There are so many places where you may have been. Did you notice the sights around you? Unless, you’re one of those people that just looks around and checks out the sights, you may have overlooked some of the stunning vistas.  Home’s developers have worked their magic to give us a touch of serenity and beauty. Some of these sights are right under your nose if you are an estate owner.

For instance, have you noticed that the Hidden Oak estate/clubhouse now has the cloud effects from Mt. Olympus?

It’s not just private estates, though: there are some remarkable public spaces. So you don’t have to own personal spaces to enjoy the beauty and realism Home has to offer. There are  added elements to the spaces in Home that enhance the experience of the vistas; houses in the distance, cars and trucks. And, of course, there is the aural element as well. Listen carefully and you may sometimes hear running water, a wind chime, or other minor details which dramatically help make Home feel more realistic.

As you watch this film I hope you can recall being in these places. I hope you can remember the sights and sounds. All of these little touches to make Home that home away from home for us.  Enjoy.

The view I love the most in Home is the waterfall in the Winter Vacation Villa. This video reminded me of of few more great ones. Nice work!

I can’t run the video for this on the device I’m currently holding but this little article did remind me of something; Zelda, Ocarina of Time. When I was about 17 OoT was about the biggest, most graphically impressive game for any console at the time. It was also one of the first to have a day/night cycle, and this is what jogged my memory; the sky just before night set in on the Hyrulian Fields was a beautiful sight to see. So much so, one night when walking home from the beach I looked up at the sky as the night envelope had just begun and my instant thought was “wow, that’s drawn well”!

I know, the initial thought took me aback too. When I realised what I’d thought, I knew right then that one day my dream of the virtual and the real being indistinguishable was also on that horizon. We’re still not quite there, but Home is as good a place to forget which realm you’re in as any. Skyrim though, is still the tremendously beautiful winner so far.

I love this series you are doing Phoenix. It still has that vacation picture/postcard feel to it which is very neat. I too love many of the “pictures” that Home presents to us, I bought the Waterfall Terrace for the look or the vista at the top of it, and it is still one of my favorites today. Nice work.

I almost get stuck in the Midnite Glade. The lighting, and just the whole feel for the place keeps me coming back. Great series Storm.

I love this series as it highlights one of the reasons I buy a home: the atmosphere. Good job, I really love the way you look at the places we have or have seen and show us the little things that in the end make it so much better.

    Thanks Guys,
I love doing these. To be in these spaces and watch the clouds move over head, the wind in the grass. Its so much of a treat. Some of the skies rival real ones as you can see by my lead photo. That ones from near my home.I could swear I’d see it on Home.

    Thanks again all.
