Dante’s F13
by Godzprototype, HSM filmmaker
In Home, there is no such thing as death.
Think about it. You die — today. Gone. All you ever were, all that you ever hoped to be. End of line. All that remains of you is what people remember, and what you leave behind. Things, just things.
Including your avatar.
That avatar file is not you. It is no more “you” than your real body is “you.” It’s merely a vessel for you to inhabit.
That said, even if you do everything right, your body will eventually succumb to entropy and stop working. Your avatar will not. So long as the file exists, your avatar exists. That does not mean that your avatar is invulnerable, however; whereas in real life we face disease and injury, our virtual selves face maladies as well.
D5021. F13. Freeze attacks. And so forth.
There are times when Home isn’t a very stable platform. The recent month-long instability, however, was a nightmare. It almost felt like being trapped in some sort of purgatory loop. Like our avatars had been sentenced to a hell from which there was no escape.
Obviously, Sony had a vested financial interest in fixing things as fast as possible. Now that the system is much more stable, our trips into that indecipherable hell are far less frequent. Which means it’s the perfect time to poke fun at it.
What if there really was a digital hell in Home? What would it look like?
I decided to film such a concept myself.
This machinima isn’t an attack on Home, or Sony. It’s simply taking an unfortunate series of events and trying to make art out of it.
This is the first video I created that is completely me. It took me longer to make this one because I made the sound edit for it too. Originally it had a musical piece I had compused using Sony Music Studio, but it didn’t fit; so I went with a background edit for it.
In any event, I hope you enjoy our trip into digital hell…
Very interesting take on that error message. It is HELL sometimes to sign in. lol
Nice job Godzprototype.
Love it! That’s what it felt like.
wow this is seriously a statement.pretty cool. i will reply again after i read it and watch it a few more times.but in the meantime i’m very impressed.love your work!(the avitars expressions are intense)(:
LOL turned out really cool, but you spelled my name wrong.. OMG IT IS HELL *giggle*
Same with me. LOL
Again, due to tech limitations I can’t see this video, yet. I just found the irony of Godzprototype showing us hell kinda funny!
Also, you’ve made me want to download my conscience into my avatar! Any ideas how I’d go about this?
Came out very nice Godz, the shadow play is a very interesting thing and one I have never seen used before. Thank goodness it seems like the “F13 hell” is almost over for all of us and we can look forward to a better Home because of it. Keep up the good work!
@Dlyrius, I am very sorry about that! Thank you for helping, it really was fun to play with shadows like that.
@KrazyFace, Your conscienceness should be in your avatar already. I think Flynn knows how to send everything there though. Might ask him.
@sposny3, it has been a lot of fun working with you, thank you for everything.
Bay, Burbie, Storm, thank you! This was supposed to be a little joke about the errors. I am sure things are going to get really cool for all of us very soon.
I LOVE IT!! This is a great way to express what we all are feeling with home lately. Hope it’s in the past now! Thanks again for letting me work with you.
Again nice piece of artwork. I can never have enough of those. Especially the way i felt about the dissconection issue. You really capture the emotions most of us were going trough.
Wow Godz, that was so completely amazing. Your artwork, the transisions to the next locations are so perfectly timed and you put so much of yourself into these machimimas that you have the ability to make us “see” the meaning of what you are saying here. The F13 is truely a nightmare and you created it perfectly and with stunning effects. You are an artist to the core. The music fits only too well and the shadowing is exceptional. You are amazing. I can’t wait to see what is next. What you see in your mind and createing it is an awsome gift and you use it well. We see what you see.
