I’m a big fan of the recent trend of clubhouse/personal space combinations. There’s something very college dorm about them. The door’s always open to club members, so you can be sitting around, talking to someone or playing a game, then three or four friends drop by and it’s a party. It adds a very different dynamic to the Home experience, and I find Moon Forest and Hidden Oak Retreat to be two great places to hang out with friends. Hidden Oak received a small update after this was shot, and now features some nice clouds floating through the sky.

The question has been asked of whether personal spaces have reached a point of saturation. For the basic, present-day, varying architectural style and location spaces, I think it’s close. I’m still looking for something that feels New England. For clubhouses, though, there’s a ton of unexplored potential, including the possibility of clubhouses with built-in games and period themes. Who doesn’t want to have their next club meeting in King Arthur’s Castle, or on the deck of an alien cruiser moving silently through space?
