Ah, the laws of physics! We are supposed to be bound to the ground, yet we strive to be everywhere we were not meant to be. Who writes these laws? At least for Home, Sony does. And still, some developers know what is really desired; Sony, try as they might to “fix” things, perhaps has yet to acknowledge that people give every last brain cell they have to play with the laws given.

We are not fish, yet we swim as deep as the ocean is. We are not birds, yet we fly into space. We do these things, as President Kennedy famously said, “not because they are easy, but because they are hard.” That is why we try. It is the human condition.

In Second Life, the primary method of transportation is flight. In Home, this is not an option; in some instances, it would be all too easy to see beyond the edge of the map, shattering the illusion. And yet I love to fly, and there are indeed places in Home to do so, both by design and via glitching.

If you have not done this in Home, I highly recommend it. It is a liberating experience. The glory of the glitcher is to be everywhere outside of the laws given. They are the true explorers of this virtual universe. To date, the only developer in Home that I’m aware of which has deliberately attempted to bend standard Newtonian laws in Home is Hellfire Games, with their wonderful Novus Prime antigravity feature.

This video is a tribute to that freedom. It is a story about a beautiful woman who loves this universe and knows no bounds. And a man that is learning to fly. They meet in the sky and she tells him of all of the things in this universe. They leave the sky and she notices he is much faster than her. She asks, “How is it you can fly faster than me?”

He turns to her. “My wings are bigger.”

In the place they are flying is where the laws of Home physics are broken and obeyed. This was no accident, and as a Home user I must say it is truly liberating! Thanks to Hellfire Games for making this possible. I hope you enjoy the experience as much as I have.

As for the beautiful woman and the man…well, they are still exploring and creating.
