What Slow Month? Drey from Lockwood, and Eleven Games Set for Today’s Home Content Update

If you’ve been following the hijinks here at HSM, you’re probably aware we have a few running jokes and gags about – the Norseling, the Podcast team’s fondness for NyQuil, the writing team living in fear of my whip (which is now accompanied by a very real assault rifle and katana). However, the one that is older than any of these started off as an innocuous comment, made rather early on in HSM’s life.
Originated by An Anonymous Letter, fueled by a comment made by Homeling General and team writer, SealWyf, My Little Pony – and eventually, the concept of ponies in Home in general – became a symbolic rally cry here whenever the community went into histrionics over some demand of theirs that was acquiesced to, but didn’t live up to their expectations or they didn’t approve of how it was carried out. “Where’s my pony?!”
So imagine my surprise when I open up the PR from Lockwood this week and see what goodies they’re offering up. Actually, strike that. What really happened was I laughed until the cat looked at me funny. Then I hyperventilated. Leave it to Lockwood to make this come to life – and yes, DarthGranny, you will be able to get your pink pony at last.
Now bear in mind, we’re not going to see these new additions this week; they’ll be available come next week’s update. But still, ponies and bronys alike, rejoice – Stitchkins Ponies are coming soon!
Once the tears of mirth were wiped and I got up to grab some water to fend off the hiccuping giggle-fits, it was time to see what else was in store from Lockwood that is actually coming this week.
Turns out that their jet-set line of fashions, Drey, is seeing yet more added to its ranks. Sheer Distinction offers up simple but chic looks for the ladies, consisting of a simple blouse and miniskirt in three different colors, as well as hat, sunglasses, handbag, and fan accessories, it’s an outfit combination that certainly calls to mind warmer seasons and warmer climates. A good thing one can’t actually feel the cold whilst in Home, no?
The guys get a dapper look this week, with the Definitive Daysuit. This three-piece suit look will make your male avatar look like a true gentleman, even if you aren’t. The suits come in four different colors, accented with an umbrella hand accessory. I could go on at length at how much I love the sight of a man in a suit – I mean, really, yes, do want, I’ll take six in fact – but if I allowed myself to go there, I’d likely put younger readers through an early puberty. In short, fellas – take a page from Home and Lockwood here in terms of your real-world fashion sense. Never underestimate the power of a well-fitting suit. The ladies will love you for it.
Also, if you haven’t cast your vote for Lockwood’s ShowOff: New Year Party now is the time to do it! The winner gets every item Lockwood is releasing in January 2012 – that’s a total of 43 items! Voting ends January 12th so go over to Lockwood’s Facebook page and cast your vote today. For your chance to win, look out for the next ShowOff coming soon!
Also Coming to Home
There’s a surprising amount content – specifically in terms of games in Home – slated to appear in this week’s update. Normally, we at HSM typically link you to official sources that cite what you can expect when you log in after the weekly update, but what’s coming to Home if far too exciting for that.
Locust_Star’s post on the PlayStation Blog lays it all out for you. The most exciting of these is obviously the new casino space. Coming from Canadian developers Digital Leisure (the people who brought us Dragon’s Lair), this looks to be a gambling experience unlike any other Home has ever experienced – complete with plenty of rewards to win. They’re also throwing in a free hotel room personal space for this week’s grand opening.
Pier Park will be seeing an expansion as well. Indie Park will showcase a variety of games from independent game developers like VEEMEE and nDreams. Community favorites like Gnome Curling, Los Penguini Brothers, Echochrome, Ice Breaker, Checkers, Chess and Savage Cosmos will be joined by Espionage 9, Give or Take, and VEEMEE’s Electrokid.
Hellfire Games is also jumping in – and in a big way. Their latest expansion to their Novus Prime universe looks to be quite epic, bringing more missions, more ships, more weapons, and more avatar items and outfits – not to mention they’ve raised the level to 30 and along with that tons of new rewards. And on top of that, they are also releasing The Nebula Air Ship personal space, too.
Tack on additions to Mass Media’s Weird Wear line, more Urban Camo from Konami, and some animated glowing furniture, who says January is a slow month for new content in Home?
Love the fact that someone has a sense of humor. When the original article came out it was too funny to listen to the comments made by everyone, now to see something coming to Home like this is really funny. Too bad we can’t personalize them like was suggested in the comments of the original post. Ponies for the WIN!!
The content this week is amazing to say the least, and I can’t wait til next week when all of these cute ponies are cavorting all over Home.
