Saw it Written and I Saw it Say – Lockwood Ultimate Fireworks Bundle and Midnight Glade is on its Way
PR courtesy of Megan Egglesden, Product Manager
I grew up in a very rural environment, where it was virtually every adolescent’s right of passage to attend a party located in a clearing out in the woods somewhere – usually without one’s parents knowledge or permission, and usually with a smattering of “certain substances.” And of course, there were some pyrotechnics that usually attracted someone’s attention enough to call the authorities, thereby quickly putting an end to the festivities.
Me, I just liked to find a nice, quiet space, free of clouds where I can stargaze. Watching auroras in the winter, meteor showers in the late summer, and if it was late enough and dark enough, watching the satellites traverse the heavens. Mind you, I didn’t object to firing off the odd bottle rocket (or five) either.
I spent ten years living away from where I grew up – traveling, even living internationally for a few years. When I came back, the fields of my youth were disappearing. In their places were shopping plazas and housing developments. Where one of my childhood friends’ home once stood is now an Olive Garden. Rolling hillsides – where I had once sledded upon under a frosty full moon that would turn the snow into diamonds as a child – are now dotted with houses like so much acne on a teenager’s face.
It’s not that I am opposed to progress; however there is an irrefutable sense of loss when a place or thing that is full of memories is no more. And the simple serenity of sitting out in a grassy field stargazing without the buzz of modern day living interfering – no text or phone call to respond to, no emails to answer, no obnoxious television program dulling your senses, no traffic noise or migraine-inducing thud thud of someone’s brace of ten-inch sub-woofers stuffed in the trunk of their Honda – is becoming a rare commodity in these days of suburban sprawl.
With Lockwood’s latest offering, you can get a chance to experience that serenity – albeit virtually.
The Midnight Glade is unique in more than one way. For one, there are no living quarters to be had in the space – anywhere. It is strictly an open field with some logs upon which to sit, an old fence, a bonfire, and a large, lone tree presiding over it all. And of course, it’s all underneath a vast, starry nighttime sky.
The other unique thing about this space is in the way it’s packaged. This ought to be interesting – for those of you who are genuinely interested in marketing in Home – to observe the sales of this commodity in the coming months. There is only one way in which you can get the Midnight Glade, and that is if you buy the Ultimate Fireworks bundle, which will sell for $6.99.
This is certainly a different way of marketing a space; all too often, we hear that the biggest drawbacks of personal spaces is that there is nothing to do in them unless you’re obsessed with interior decorating or messing around with bugs in the space – fondly referred to in the vernacular as “glitching” or “floating.” This gives you something to do, and a space in which to do it in. On top of that, it’s a space that encourages owners to invite friends over, as it has its own gifts and rewards to give. And besides, much like those parties of my youth, what’s the sense of setting off a few dozen fireworks with no one around to enjoy it? There’s a little pyromaniac residing in all of us; of that I am certain.
To get a better perspective of the Midnight Glade, check out the video below. Mind you, I personally would have gone for a knockoff of Nick Drake’s Pink Moon interspersed with the screech and bang sounds of fireworks exploding as the soundtrack, but that’s just me.

Also keep an eye out for Issue 10 of HSM – it’s in the works, promise – as there will be some Lockwood trivia questions for you to answer as a chance to win a free code for this and another fabulous new space! Megan and the team have also graciously answered some questions about the Midnight Glade and provided HomeStation a glimpse at the development of this space. Keep a lookout for that interview – it’s coming soon!
I have heard this answered both ways, so I still want to know… are these fireworks one time use items or repeatable?
Kassadee -- have you asked Lockwood directly on their Facebook page? It’s likely you won’t see an answer until tomorrow as it’s almost midnight over in the UK, but I’m sure if you post a note about it, they’ll be more than happy to clarify it.
I have now. Thanks!
Holy cripes!!!! IF these are repeatable this looks like a Grand Slam if not it’s still a Home Run.
It looks like Lockwood deleted my question instead of answering it. Is that an answer in and of itself?
I checked the Facebook trail as best I could, and it looks like the question’s still there. I’m not technologically literate about this stuff, but one thing I’ve noticed with the HSM Facebook page is that if someone posts directly to the wall (as opposed to in response to an HSM post), it goes to a different section. I’m guessing that’s what happened to your inquiry.
Granted, I could be completely wrong — people with more Facebook know-how could probably answer it better — but that’d be my guess.
From what Hearitwow said on the forums about this it is a permanent use firework it will never run out, I think so too as I have used them and they don’t say anything about X amount of uses.
