Sony Announces Special Halloween Update For Monday

by Kassadee Marie, HSM team writer

Thrilling happenings, exciting new items and an incredible new space will be coming your way this magical, mystical Halloween season. You won’t be able to believe your eyes or your ears!

Just wait until you see the new interactive items that will be available in a very special Monday update to Home – exclusively for Halloween. You’ve all been wanting more avatar actions and default expressions to use while visiting Home and here they are!

Just in time for Halloween, Sony announces new “R1” actions and “L1” preset phrases. Some of these presets are now audible! While the new expressions can be used at any time, the new actions have certain requirements. When those conditions are met, to perform the new actions, simply select another player and choose one of the new commands that will pop up on the menu. There will so much amusement for everyone involved!

You all remember the Mummy costume that came out last year with that special “dance move” and was given to us all as part of the Welcome Back package. Central Plaza was flooded with users in look-alike mummy costumes, and what fun that was! Running with this idea, Sony has added some special moves to the Halloween costumes offered again this year. While enjoying the reaper costume, use the new expression, “Your time is up.” and follow that up with the “cut off head” action. Watch the incredible excitement begin among friends and strangers alike! The werewolf costume now has a new “lunge and tear out guts” action. We suggest that you precede that with the long audible growl from the menu. People will be delighted and impressed!

Are you a Frankenstein’s monster fan? You’ll love the “grab and squeeze until their head pops off” action now available when wearing that costume. The audible moan in the expressions menu is not to be missed, either. Due to the overwhelming demand from all you vampires out there, there will now be an “I vant to suck your blud.” default phrase and a “bite neck” action any time you are wearing all black. The witch costume from Lockwood now has the “teleport others” action (please note that this command can only be used once a day). You’ll want to use this with the audible “cackle” expression for your full enjoyment and the enjoyment of others around you.

Wait! There’s more! New costumes are also up for grabs and you won’t want to miss these delightful items. The new Alice Cooper outfit will thrill and delight when used with the command “bite the head off a chicken,” especially when accompanied by the opening notes from “Killed by Love” from the expressions menu. You 666 lovers especially will go for the new Dark Lord and Dark Sorceress Costumes with the “enchant others” command that makes them follow you around like a companion pet. You’ll want to use the, “Your soul is mine” expression with this one!

Also, for even more fun this season pick up one of the Fools (Killer) Clown outfits, available in male or female styles. The expression for the clown? Maniacal laughter of course!

The list of new interactive objects is incredible. You won’t want want to miss these items that are only available for a short time. The mummy’s tomb from which there is no escape will cause merriment for all. Just invite an unsuspecting guest to step in and then shut the lid behind them. There’ll be no way out until you open the lid again, or until they shut off their PS3! There is a gravestone that comes with a grave you can actually lay down in. Now you and your friends can visit your own grave! Also, be sure not to miss the coffin bed that you can also lay down in and close the lid. Invite your friends over and when they arrive, jump out at them. Watch the shock and awe on their faces! The electric chair will be sure to “thrill” your guest.

What could better at Halloween time than a witch’s cauldron? As Shakespeare would have it, “Double, double toil and trouble. Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.” The toil will be doubled when a friend stands too close and goes up in flames! Last, but certainly not least, now you can put one of your friends in a skeleton’s cage the minute they arrive at your space. Then lock the door and raise it up for everyone to poke a little innocent fun at that poor fool.

There’s still more! Sony has gone all out this season and they will be bringing you the incredible four story castle complete with towers, moat and a drawbridge that you can raise and lower. You’ll be amazed and delighted at the incredible size of this personal space, with three to five rooms on each floor. Your eyes will bug out when you see the beauty of the enormous ballroom on the first floor. And who won’t enjoy the dungeon, complete with implements of torture?

There is an incredible view from every window. Watch the villagers attack with pitchforks and torches from the north or the fog roll in from the forest to the south, with eerie creatures lurking in the mist. The brilliant red, pink and golden sunset to the west will be a feast for your eyes! But all you vampires be sure to hide from the sunrise to the east! Whether you are Frankenstein and decorate your mad scientist’s lab or the Queen or King of the Damned and decorate to lure your victims, or any other mystical creature you choose to be, this castle has endless possibilities. Your imagination is the only limit.

Happy Halloween!

Home is endlessly entertaining to this California girl. Kassadee has been in Home for about four years, and loves almost everything about it (with a few notable exceptions). She spends way too much money there, and perhaps too much time... Someday she will travel the world and write about the people she meets and the places she sees.
