Top Ten Items Sold In Home – August Edition
List courtesy of GlassWalls, Home Community Manager, with commentary by Terra_Cide, HSM Editor
Hello, and welcome to the August edition of the top ten best selling – by unit – items on Home.
Yes, I know what you’re thinking and you’re quite right; HSM hasn’t run one of these all summer long – since April, really – but between the outage and the fact that it’s, well, summer, you could say people had better things to do, like go to the beach. Except for me, as I haven’t been to the beach all summer long. Not only is this completely wrong, I’m so pasty white I now glow in the dark as a result.
Right then, on to the topic at hand. This top ten list is comprised of the items that have sold the most units, not generated the most revenue, which for those of you playing at home (not Home) will know is a big difference. And so without further ado, here’s what you have been buying in Home for the month of August:
- The Green Ticket (Mass Media) – We haven’t run one of these lists in more or less an entire fiscal quarter, and this still continues to be the top seller. Not really much more to say, other than it kind flies in the face of all those people who claim that no one would ever want to pay to play a game in Home, now doesn’t it? People also used to claim that no one would ever want to go and watch a movie with sound or color, too. Just saying.
- Lockwood Token Pack – 80 (Lockwood Publishing) - This too returns to the same spot it resided four months ago, in spite of the fact that there have been technical difficulties with the gift machines since Home came back online. People like to give their friends gifts. People like to receive gifts from their friends. Lockwood makes money and in turn provides more awesomesauce for us all. Result: everybody wins.
- Floral Tube Top Outfit – female (Sony Computer Entertainment America) – Sony rather quite dominated their own top ten list, as practically everything from here on out comes from them. The popularity of this item is rather obvious wherever you go in Home – I myself have seen a large chunk of the current Home population out and about in it. Not only that, it’s a full outfit for ninety-nine cents, and while it’s true that this completely wipes out any ability to mix and match the top and bottom, it is a great value for those new to Home looking to pick up a fresh look, without having to buy two pieces separately for the same price each.
- Criss-Cross Top – female (Sony Computer Entertainment America) – If we’ve said it once here at HSM, we’ve said it a hundred times – the female items sell like hotcakes. And the sexier looking (which if I’m honest, is a matter of subjective opinion) an article of clothing is, the better it will sell.
- Graffiti Neon Green High Tops – male (Sony Computer Entertainment America) – How long has it been since a male clothing item cracked into the top five, let alone the top ten? The last Ice Age? The Roman Empire? No matter, this is evidence that if you make it, the boys will buy it.
- Hollywood Hills House (Sony Pictures Entertainment) – LOOT really made a smash hit for Sony with this space – which is up one spot from the April list – and it’s pretty easy to see why. If you grew up in America, at some point in your life you either wanted to be a star living Hollywood, or you knew someone who did (it doesn’t matter if they told you – some secrets are best kept to ones self). Now for the price of a tasty beverage at Starbucks, you can live out that fantasy – albeit virtually. And let’s face it – those EOD screens are just plain hot; they certainly add value. There’d be more value if there was more EOD on the EOD, but that’s another topic for another time.
- Ripped Skinny Jeans – female (Sony Computer Entertainment America) – The fashions of the 1980s are back with a vengeance here in the real world, and as exemplified by this item, the virtual world isn’t immune to it either. Could this be considered art imitating life? Discuss amongst yourselves.
- Short Faux Hawk Hair – male (Sony Computer Entertainment America) – This is the second of three male clothing items in this top ten list. As mentioned above, 80s fashions are making a comeback, and while the faux hawk is a relatively modern look in male hairstyling, the graphics shaved into the side of the head harken back to an era when Will Smith was known as The Fresh Prince.
- Shredded Top – female (Sony Computer Entertainment America) – More 80s fashion nostalgia. How many hair metal bands had a girl (or a male band member who looked the part) with a top on like this (or less) in their music videos? You’ve got thirty seconds to name them; ready, go!
- Moto-Jacket – male (Sony Computer Entertainment America) – Rounding out our top ten is our final male clothing item. You’ve probably noticed that there’s a fairly even ratio of male to female clothing items in this top ten list. Is this a sign that there are young men in Home who are actually heeding the advice laid out by both men and women here at HSM as well as in the forums to ditch the default black wife beater? One can only hope.
Great article on what is selling. How about the top bottom ten list? How come some of the models heads were cut off?.Didn’t see any zombies near by.
It wasn’t about the models, dearie. It was about the items.
I am not surprised that the Midway tickets were still up there on the list, and being that the gift machine was just brought back it stands to reason that they would be up there on the list too. The Neon Hightops are a surprise though, those things are kind of ugly in my opinion, but to each their own. Good job with the descriptions Terra, fun read.
I love those neon high tops… male or female and I love to see guys stylin in them. You go, guys!
I don’t believe I’ve ever heard anyone say that nobody would pay to play games on Home. However I have heard many, many ppl say that if the games aren’t good then they wouldn’t pay.
I’m guessing the Tiger cub will be in the list for Sept. edition. Seriously how cute is that little cub, and why didn’t they make it sooner.
Tiger cub??? What! Where?
Bengal Tiger cub, new companion released this week, in the exclusives store. Adorable beyond belief. There’s a fainting goat too, i couldn’t decide which to get. Who am I kidding, Tiger cub all the way :).
My son loves goats (and he’s a Capricorn), so I may just have to pick the goat up..
Here, kitty, kitty, kitty, kitty…..
mmmmmm BBQ goat…..
Noooo! This goat is cute enough to make you a vegan. Just wish they made a Bear Cub next.
I don’t want the fainting goat unless George Clooney comes with him.
