Another Unofficial Home Photography Contest

“You don’t take a photograph, you make it.” - Ansel Adams
Many think of photography as some hobby which involves someone buying some $600+ digital SLR and looking “professional.”
Well unfortunately, that was never the concept of photography. Many take photography seriously; some are talented, and others use it for income.
When you’re using PlayStation Home’s virtual camera, it captures vivid memories that you can recap on in the future. As some may not know, this fall Playstation Home will be redesigned – meaning not the same Central Plaza, for instance. I have composed over 200 images on PlayStation Home for the past eleven months that I soon plan to portrait in my personal spaces. It takes believers to make something useful, yet it takes achievers to make something innovative. Most of us long-time Home users will miss the old Home and the great and bad memories that it brought.
PlayStation showed us what possibilities could be achieved. Now they’re just taking it a level further. It shows how much innovation can be brought within three years on PlayStation Home.
As some may know, I love photography. It’s something that lets you express yourself without words or feelings. It gives you the freedom to be innovative with the subject and the image’s theme. That’s one of the most important things in a photograph: the theme and its subject. The subject tells the story, while the theme gives a setting for the story.
If you noticed I used the term “innovative” throughout the introduction, and that’s what makes something special. Being innovative – as stated above – shows the possibilities that one possesses.
One thing I love as well as photography is socializing with the community. Without communication, the world won’t be spinning. I love to write about upcoming events or current issues and/or difficulties with others. One thing that a company needs is feedback, so no matter if it’s positive or negative, it’s always great to tell developers or project managers what needs to be improved, or what should be changed.
PlayStation listens to most of what we ask for, and soon we will be getting a remodeled Home, which made me decide to make another Unofficial PlayStation Home Photography Contest for August and September. I hope you will like the images shown below.
After the winners are revealed, while you’re looking through this short gallery of photographs, I will be composing a “Goodbye Playstation Home” photography contest that will be composed of pictures to commemorate to old Home instead of making an October Edition.
1st Place Winner
“Fallen Angel” – Bonxo8480
The image shown above is PlayStation Home photography to the next level. The photographer who captured this image made such a dark sinister photo into something so vivid. I loved how Bonx created a flamboyant title for the image. If you read last editions photography contest you can see how both 1st prize winners pictures are theme related. The photographer made another image that I would love to show here as well, called “After Hours” that I see many others on the forums liked. You can obviously tell that the “Parking” sign is the subject of the photo.
2nd Place Winner
“Farewell to IREM” –GRIMM-_-REAPER
Grimm, you did it again. What can I say? You had magnificent timing. I really loved how you made a sad moment such an enlightening photograph. We all will miss Irem as well as their products and spaces. The angle is superb, and you caught the subject at the right timing, as stated above. The theme of the photograph is great, just superb. Damn, I’m still amazing myself as I type about this image; actually more like speechless. Good job, and I hope to see your photographs in the next contest.
3rd Place Winner
“Tranquility” – lady-cha0s-
I’ve seen pictures that have had same related themes as this one, and was stunned with the results and thankful to see that people voted for Ms. Cha0s. She also took another photograph saying farewell to Irem here called “Thanks For The Memories” which I also really liked. (See featured image at the beginning of this article. ~T~)
4th Place Winner
“Goal!” –Perish_Song
This image brings humor and happiness every time I scroll the page. I loved how Perish combined reality within the virtual world. You did a good job. I also liked Perish’s other photos that I felt were abstract themed. I hope to see more photos.
5th Place Winner
“Gang of Four” – Julie_love
In my perspective this photograph portraits the 1990’s era of Hip Hop. The subject of the image, which was gang related, works well with the setting. This is a fresh and vivid image to me. I actually have not seen a photograph submitted in this style, which makes it an “out of the box” picture. I’d love to see more of this theme soon.
I hope you liked the photographs shown above! I want to thank:

For taking the time to submit their photographs and showing the PlayStation Home Community what innovative ideas can be brought up. I will see you all on September 20th for October’s Edition (Farewell Old Home) Photography Contest. After that contest is over, I will be revealing the winners on Playstation Home Community Forums from now on. Thanks for all the support, and here’s a link to the original topic of discussion.
WooHoo! Two in a row, awesome.
Very nice pictures everyone. It has always amazed me what I have seen people do with the camera that Home provides us.
http://community.us.playstation.com/thread/3881501?start=0&tstart=0 OCOTBERS EDITION. FOR THE GUYS AT THE HSM TEAM, THIS IS A REALLY SPECIAL EDITION. SO PLEASE JOIN US, AND TELL YOUR HOMERS AS WELL.
These are great.
I am hoping that just like in real life, Home photographers will be able to create juxtaposition shots that allow us to see something we look at all the time in a new way.
Congratulations to the winners!!
Weird! The photo at the top, the second place (with dolphns) and the third place are all very similar to ones I’ve taken myself!
I’ll be keeping an eye on this contest for the next time around. And just incase you think I might be fibbing, the photos I speak of were posted in the official home forums, check em’ out if you like.
Good work winners!
