Silicon Lounge – Party Place Extraordinaire!
by Burbie52, HSM team writer
Sodium and Lockwood have done it again.
They have created a new personal space called the Silicon Lounge — and it’s amazing to behold. I was privileged to be able to see this extraordinary place today, and was very impressed with it overall.
First off: it’s absolutely huge! It reminds me a lot of the free SodiumOne space you get to play the game from (the one you can’t put any furniture in), only this time it’s at night. However, that’s not the case here; how many times have we all wanted to place furniture in our Sodium place? Well, just like Blaster’s Paradise, now we can!
My first thought was that any furniture that I placed would be swallowed up in it. But then I went through the trademark Sodium gate and found that they had embedded several carpets to lounge around on, as well as some chairs, a fire pit and lamps. So at least there’s some furniture baked into the space.
The more I looked around this space the more I fell in love with it. The dark scenery is well rendered, and you just know you have been transported to a nighttime party spot; one that’s out there on the horizon in the Sodium Hub just past where it boots you back to the center of the Hub (as many of you can attest to, I’m sure) when you try to go too far into the desert.
There is a musical dance floor built into it. That’s right, people — the floor makes music as you walk across it, and there are some animated effects (reminiscent of the SingStar public space) as well. There is a large raised dais that also has musical tones built into the flooring, but these ones make a different sound than those on the larger floor below. It was while exploring these areas I realized that this was a party place, so I wouldn’t need to furnish it in the same way as a regular personal space. This is meant to be used for big parties with your best friends. The only thing I wish is that I could be able to invite more than eleven people there, as this space will swallow them up in the expanse of it all.
There are three Sodium transporters in the space, just like the Blaster’s Paradise has, for easy connectivity to the rest of the Sodium world. They light up the sky with their wonderful auras and add more ambiance to the dancing area. There are bright orange floating orbs in the sky above you that look like helium balloons or Japanese lanterns that escaped from a carnival. A bright full moon hangs in the sky lighting the landscape with eerie shadows across the ground and reflections in the water that surrounds you in every direction.
There are brightly lit cubes and puzzles pieces scattered everywhere as well as beautiful, lit up cherry blossom trees that add to the uniqueness of the space. This is the first desert space in Home that you can decorate and make your own; it makes you feel like you are really in the desert at night. It is a quiet space for singular reflection or it can become a lively party spot in moments with the addition of a few friends.
Another very cool thing in this space is the underground cavern. It is a well-hidden spot where you can hunker down with your friends. It’s fully decorated with throw pillows, chairs and carpets, and has its own fire as well. It adds to the mystique here because, like Norse said in one of our podcasts, it makes you wonder if there isn’t some bigger story behind Sodium and its varied environments. The bunker here and in the SodiumOne space certainly suggests so.
There is a sort of beach area behind the raised dance floor, and though you can’t swim as it is protected by a barrier, it is a nice addition to the space. One thing that is different from this space and the previously released Blaster space is that you can put up a couple of pictures on the large billboard that is lit up near the beach area.
There is a photo contest going on in conjunction with the launching of this new space being hosted by Lockwood Publishing. There are some nice prizes attached to it for the winners of the contest including this space as well as a plethora of other Sodium Lockwood products. So everyone needs to put their best party on and join in the festivities! Here is a link that you can use to find out about the contest.
