Lockwood Gets Hairy

Hairstyling can say quite a lot about a person.

Conservative and traditional? Wild and untamed? Retro, modern or timeless? Gel, hairspray, crimping or flatiron?

I’ll admit that I have a personal fondness for 80’s hairstyles. I do. I saw Morten Harket’s mullet in 1985 and decided, you know what, that’s where it’s at. And it’s amazing how hairstyling changes with trends and fashions. Remember when Mission: Impossible 2 came out? There was a period of time where every man on the planet was trying to copy Tom Cruise’s hairstyle from that film.

(Come to think of it, nearly every Cruise hairstyle has been copied and emulated over the decades…)

With women, it’s no different. How many hairstyles has Madonna popularized? She goes through hairstyles like Moe Greene goes through eyewear.

In virtual reality, hairstyling is especially important in establishing identity. We only have so many default hairstyles to choose from, and establishing a unique identity isn’t as easy to do when you can change your appearance at will and yet still somehow look like everyone else.

This is where Lockwood steps in.

Do you own a Lockwood hairstyle? If you answered “no,” I will mark you down as a born-again liar. Because you do. Everyone does. It’s one of the rules. It’s practically written into the Terms of Service:

1. No profanity.

2. No trolling.

3. No revealing personal data.

4. Buy Lockwood swag.

So, with that said, what has Lockwood cooked up for us this week? Medusa.

Medusa can be summed up fairly easily: awesome new hairstyles. For both genders.

Pinning Lockwood down isn’t easy. They defy TV Guide one-line summations. Their varied assortments of hairstyles, for instance, range from the alternative scene to royalty. And this latest offering is all over the map, too. Personally, I rather like the sort of Errol Flynn shaggy hairstyle.

Something tells me the Medusa collection will be yet another winner for Lockwood. I’m curious to see how this line expands over the coming months.

I think hairstyles are important too Norse. I wear the short, spiky hairstyle not because I do IRL but rather because I want it to say something about me. I want to be fun, but edgy, prickly but nice, competitive but easy going. Not sure if my choice reflects that but that’s kinda what I’m going for.

Plus, early on, when I first started being on Home with some regularity (every day lol), the long hair styles just didn’t appeal to me.

Thankfully that’s changed and I’m sure I’ll get some, if not all, of these new Lockwood hairstyles. But I do seem to revert to my short spiky hair, it makes me somewhat recognizable to others when my inter-regional ID name choices don’t. Yet I’m not sure that I’ll wear any new hairstyle all that often.

As I wrote on YPSH, I will HAVE to get the Princes Leia-like double bun ‘do, since it will work so well with my Pleia look (Leia’s secret sista). :)

btw LOVE the born-again liar line lol. when i see born-again bumper stickers i always think, i was born-right the first time! :)

I was just gonna add I do really like one of the Singstar hairstyles in EU, it’s a full hair look but I really like it. I wear that one fairly often in EU.

Can I edit my original post?

Well if “Buying Lockwood swag” isn’t a part of the TOS it should be,they are light years ahead of everyone else in bringing the stuff ppl want to the ppl.Other developers and Sony itself could learn a few things by watching what Lockwood is doing.
