Issue #7 Silicon Lounge Codes: The Hunt Begins

Aloha, HSM readers!

Issue #7 produced the highest single-day spike in visitor traffic the HSM website has ever seen! Needless to say, we’re extremely grateful for the community support and feedback that we’ve received so far. Special credit has to be given to our art director, MJG74, who singlehandedly lays out every single issue of HSM. He’s rarely in the spotlight — although I highly encourage you to read some of his previous articles here on the website — but the guy busts his asterisks every single month to deliver a very polished and professional magazine issue.

One bit of feedback we noticed is that some readers have been having a bit of difficulty with the code matrix we put into Issue #7; although the crossword was universally enjoyed, the other challenges turned out to be a bit problematic. As a result, we’ve got two Silicon Lounge codes still up for grabs.

So we’ve decided to do something a bit different.

For the next two days, one redemption code per day will be hidden inside the text of one of the web articles on HSM’s front page. You’ll have to hunt through each of the front-page articles to find it. It will be broken up into three pieces within the article, so you’ll have to put the three pieces together. The first person to assemble the code and enter it wins the snazzy new Lockwood Silicon Lounge. Keep in mind that only one person can win the code, so time is of the essence.

(By the way, we may run this sort of thing more often, so even if you miss out on one of these codes, don’t fret; there will be additional such opportunities in the future.)

Oh, and by the way…the first code’s already hidden somewhere in one of the articles on the front page of the website. Good hunting!

Great to see HSM taking initiative and changing up their way of distributing those codes.

I already found the first one in one of the articles posted, but someone claimed it already. “This Prepaid Card has already been consumed” is what I get when attempting to redeem.

Can’t seem to find one anywhere…maybe its hidden in code? Or in one of the Pics?

That didn’t take long. The last time we did a code contest (Issue #5), it was gone within minutes of the issue’s release. We’ve been experimenting with different ways of how to release codes — writing contests, magazine hunts, crosswords, code matrices, etc. — to find the ones that provide the right level of challenge. Each time we try a new approach, we learn a little more.

Tomorrow’s release will be exactly the same as today’s, so it’ll go pretty quickly. After that, though…I’ve got some ideas. Tee hee.

Are you aware that, in the code matrix in the actual magazine, you misspelled the code you gave out today? No wonder we had trouble redeeming it the first time around…

Someone snagged the second Silicon Lounge that was posted today, unfortunately I was at a movie when it was posted. Damn having a life >_<
