Ahoy, me hearties! Yo ho ho and a dead man’s chest! Or something.

It’s all about treasure and bragging rights for Lockwood this week.

First, of all we see ShowOff Best Dressed finalists doing battle to be crowned the Snappiest Dresser in all of PlayStation ® Home! If you’ve not voted already be sure, to check out the finalists and have your say about who should be crowned as Champion! We’ll announce the results Next Week so vote NOW!  http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150211945280588.317422.139845265587

If high fashion isn’t your scene then Lockwood’s Fool Throttle brand takes to the high seas this week with some piratical pomp for you to enjoy. Four of the scurviest seadogs ever to walk the plank arrive in Playstation®Home, and their garb is not for the lily livered!

Corsair Cordial and Captain Capricious are the sort of pirates who’ll kiss your hand as they help themselves to the silver in your pockets. Their hats are large and impressive, their clothing is woven from exquisite fabrics and finished with brass buttons and their boots are made from the finest leather. They can mingle with the aristocracy unnoticed — when they aren’t crossing swords with them, that is!

Buccaneer Bubbly and Shipmate Shindig are the other kind of pirate. More at home sloshing grog around as they bellow sea shanties than rubbing shoulders with the rich and famous, these two may not be the sharpest cutlasses in the armoury, but they’re the most fun. They dress as they live – practical, functional and with a splash of colour and daring.

And what’s a pirate without a loyal companion? Someone who won’t complain about getting short-changed on loot, or being made to do the night shift in the crow’s nest again! Someone whose thoughts won’t turn mutinous after six months of ships rations and swabbing the poopdeck. That’s where Barnacle and Picaroon come in, a tough old crab happy to give lazy crew members a hefty nip and a wily and helpful little monkey, who’s pretty handy with a sword too.

Head down to the store and pick up some pirate booty today! Also available as value packs.

Editor’s note: I know we at HomeStation Magazine keep sounding like babbling Lockwood fanboys, but there’s a very good reason for this. THEY KEEP CREATING AWESOME STUFF.

Lockwood is to Home what Errol Flynn is to pirate movies: simply nonpareil.

No, really. Pirate outfits are nothing new to Home. And yet Lockwood’s pirate outfits are just better.

Let’s look at suits. While the choice of suits in Home is, frankly, a bit limited, the Lockwood Figment suit is more than just a work of art: it’s culturally accurate. There are cultural differences between an American, British, German or Italian cut. A proper British suit, for instance, has very little shoulder padding and should feature a slight slope. It should also feature two rather long side vents. The shirt should have a widespread cutaway collar, instead of a tab collar or pin collar. The only acceptable shoe, for truly formal businesswear, is a black Oxford with closed lacing.

Speaking as someone who is not unfamiliar with a bespoke Gieves & Hawkes suit, it’s little details like this (and trust me, there are many more) which make a difference. And Lockwood got it right. Maybe that sails over the heads of the young teenagers in Home’s population, but trust me — it’s impressive.

Let’s not forget, by the way, that Lockwood delivers a staggering amount of high-quality content to Home every single week. If you’ve read our Issue #5 interview with John Ardussi, then you know what goes into creating virtual commodities for Home. It’s an arduous, time-consuming, highly-caffeinated process. The sheer volume of new material that Lockwood releases every single week is staggering.

My personal advice: get a dozen people together. Dress half of them up in Fool Throttle frock coats. Dress the other half up as pirates. Go to either a Sunset Yacht or Pirate Galleon. Drop two Heavy Strike active cannons into the space. And have yourself a proper Errol Flynn swashbuckler scene straight out of Against All Flags!

(Because Errol Flynn pirate movies are where it’s at, yo.)

You may rest assured that I will be purchasing some of these pirate outfits from Lockwood. And so should you.

  1. Burbie52 says:

Ahoy matey! These look like a lot of fun, I have a couple of good friends in Home who will be buying these by the bucket load as they are pirate crazy anyway. They have timed this perfectly, with the release of the Pirates of the Caribbean movie just a couple weeks ago, I am sure there are many others out there who will jump right in. And you are right about Lockwood having their fingers on the pulse of Home, now if I can just get my variety of long dresses or preferably long voluminous skirts in a lot of different colors for combining, then I will be a very happy camper.

  2. Halday says:

Very nice, Norse. True enough,it’s all about subtle details.
Hey Lockwood, how about some gypsies, and circus performers? Or maybe a companion with chat bubbles..a parrot with a mutinous attitude might fly :-)

  3. SealWyf says:

Gotta love pirates. At least the jolly, fictitious kind. Yarrrrgh!!!

  4. keara22hi says:

And did you notice that Hibana is one of the photo contest finalists!

  5. Joanna Dark says:

Hibana did a wonderful job with her picture. I know personally I like it the best.

And relative to Lockwood these pirates and companions are really well done. Lockwood has raised the bar when it comes to quality Home items.
