Home’s Top Items — April

Information courtesy of GlassWalls, Home Community Manager

For the month of April, here is the top-eleven list of virtual commodities. As always, this list is by number of units sold, not by revenue.

  1. The Green Ticket (Mass Media Inc.)
  2. Lockwood Token Pack — 80 (Lockwood Publishing)
  3. Black Fantasy Torso — Female (Sony Computer Entertainment America)
  4. Baron’s Eggcellent Plan — active item (Lockwood Publishing)
  5. Novus Prime Officer’s Quarters (Hellfire Games, Inc.)
  6. Experience Booster — Mental Reception Conditioning (Hellfire Games, Inc.)
  7. Hollywood Hills House with Home Theater (Sony Pictures Entertainment)
  8. Nebulon Booster — Portable Nebulon Purifier (Hellfire Games, Inc.)
  9. Burgundy Fantasy Torso — Female (Sony Computer Entertainment America)
  10. White Fantasy Torso — Female (Sony Computer Entertainment America)
  11. L’il Reaper (nDreams Ltd)

Editor’s notes: An analysis of this data suggests some interesting results.

1. The last week or so of April obviously has no data, as Home went offline. This, then, would be a snapshot of as much of April as was available to review.

2. Midway and Midway Two continue to be moneymakers. Time and time again, we continue to see the Green Ticket at or near the top of these monthly lists. Aside from the obvious fact that Midway provides a fun in-Home gaming experience that requires no social interaction, the continued success of this business model — pay to play, with free-play access — suggests that other developers will follow suit (and, in some cases, already have).

3. Whomever designed those fantasy torsos made a lot of money for Sony. And, once again, only female clothing is on the list.

4. Lockwood’s Gift Machine continues to perform well. Home is still, at its heart, a social networking environment for gamers — and, as such, people love to give gifts to other people. With periodic updates to the gifting content, we see no reason why the Token Pack won’t continue to make appearances on this list for some time to come.

5. Hellfire Games appears to have scored quite a hit with Novus Prime: Escalation. Not only are the boosters selling quite well, but the personal estate cracked the top five! HSM has written about the recent numerous innovations in personal estates, and the decision to offer antigravity capability in a personal estate is a great, unique touch.

6. People sure love their EOD technology. Once again, the Hollywood Hills House is on the list, and it sure as heck ain’t because of the swimming pool.

7. Good to see nDreams on the list! Aside from the fact that we’re big nDreams fans at HomeStation, the L’il Reaper is an awesome concept for a personal pet. It’s death — but it’s so cute!

Interesting to see three female items in the top ten. It gives insight into why developers are paying attention to what females want in home.

The midway tickets need to be sold in higher quantities like $4 & $8 so I don’t have to spend 10 min purchasing 4 tickets and waiting for the load. I’ve beaten 70% of the games and it will take me a while on the rest as I suck at them! guess I’m ready for midway 3 so I could get carla in the hot tub. anybody know if the last den leaderboard unlock is the mythical Thang?

I agree that the Fantasy Torsos are complete and total win! I’m usually wearing one of them, whenever I’m not in Echochrome. Have even been tempted to sneak the White Fantasy Torso into a Homeling gathering. (glances over shoulder)

For readers who don’t know what that Black Fantasy Torso is, I am posting a picture of it in the HSM Forum Fashion sticky thread. I think also everyone in Home who likes to dress up bought those. I would buy one in real life, too!
