HomeStation Presents: The Upload, Episode #2

We’re back! If you enjoyed the urbane wit, reasoned discussion and slightly mental mayhem of the first HomeStation podcast, then you’ll absolutely love this one. Norse, Mike, Cubes and Jersquall cover the following topics:

  • Shouting at people
  • Killzone Central Plaza
  • The PSP2
  • Lockwood fashions & hairstyles
  • Cubism in Home
  • 3D gaming: fad or future?
  • Egypt’s unrest, and the internet “kill switch” bill in the USA
  • Senator Lieberman’s retirement, and violence in video games
  • Are video games the work of the devil?
  • Should Home have a “welcome center” of some sort?
  • “Home Schooling”

(Impromptu poll: which of the four Upload presenters most resembles the Stig?)

So: if you’re looking for the Home equivalent of a Bill Maher talk show, then grab something to drink, kick back, and listen to these four gents joke around and have some really interesting discussion. The Upload, episode two: online now!

    Interesting HSMcast.

3D technology was a fad. It always has been. Sadly it will take the same industry to accept it as a standard as the one that first pushed bluray over hddvd. I won’t say what industry it is, but it rhymes with corn.

On an unrelated note, is it just me, or does cubehouse sound like Yahtzee’s cousin that speaks at a reasonable pace?

My vote is Mike for Stig. Yes, I am aware of certain ironies that vote entails.

Great broadcast again guys, kudos. Glad to hear you discuss the welcome center idea. I still think this is a viable idea, it can be done as you suggested with videos available in the Harbour space, or with an actual place where people can go. I still opt for the space for a couple of good reasons. Yes it will be a place for new people to congregate, but I think that this is a good thing. This way they get to meet other new people and make friends, and if there are guides there, (or other experienced users like Homelings, ect.) I don’t see there being any more of an harassment problem than there already is in CP. In fact if it acts as a magnet to bring griefers in where they can be more easily reported, I say it will be a positive added feature. This place would also have video kiosks for people to watch informational videos and developers would find this an excellent place to promote their spaces and games in Home. Also this can be a place for people who have issues like missing inventory to get help, you won’t find that in an informational video. It will give Sony a large, visible presence in Home, and that will be a good thing for all.

That’s some photo, Wow how have the police aged, if I am Sting,(as suggested above) then who is Andy Summers and Stewart Copeland?
thanks for tuning into the HomeStation.

Since I forgot to mention it earlier, I’d also like to thank Cubehouse for saying “pwned” on air. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who has ever said that out loud.

    • Cubehouse says:

I am a Computer Scientist and have many nerdy friends who regularly reference XKCD and say things like “LOL” and “Pwned” or “Fail” in everyday conversation ;)

    Nice job, guys :)

You need to add a sex appeal moment about the twenty five minute mark to keep your listeners interested. How come no women in the podcast? What is the demographic of your audience? Men in prison?

I love the show and listen to the whole thing. But I am starting to notice that the mail man looks pretty good in his tight shorts. So please mix it up a little.

    From Jeremy Clarkson:

“Back in August, Top Gear boss Andy Wilman and I went to Edinburgh to give a talk to a room full of television types on how Top Gear was still breaking viewing figure records in its 14th series.

“Actually, it wasn’t a talk because, truth be told, neither Andy nor I have the first idea why Big Brother and Wife Swap all wither, but Top Gear continues to solider on. So we decided to make it a question and answer session.

“And here’s how the questions went. Why is there no woman presenter? Why are there always pretty girls standing around at the front of the audience? Why is half the viewing audience women? Why are there so few female stars in the reasonably priced car? Were we ever asked by the BBC to have a female presenter? Is the Top Gear office a club for boys or are there girls in there too?

“There were, in fact, so many questions about girls, that we ran out of time before anyone had a chance to ask us about the environment.

“The problem is that television executives have got it into their heads that if one presenter on a show is a blonde-haired, blue-eyed heterosexual boy, the other must be a black Muslim lesbian. Chalk and cheese, they reckon, works. But here we have Top Gear setting new records after six years using cheese and cheese. It confuses them.

“I tend not to draw distinctions between men and women, apart from in bed where you really do need to spot the differences. At work, girls are just people.”

With “The Upload”, I do want to have female commentary on the show; not only is a large chunk of our team female (including our advertising editor and our videography producer), but a remarkable percentage of our readership is female. My hope is to have many different female voices on the program — but I should point out that I’m essentially gender-neutral when it comes to the show. I care more about the personality than the body parts.
