HomeStation Presents: The Upload, Episode #1

Welcome to the first edition of The Upload, the official podcast for HSM! Our inaugural broadcast features insights and insanity from Norse, Mike, Cubes and our special guest, Jersquall!

(Please note that Jersquall is not appearing in any official capacity as part of the Home Community Volunteer program on our podcast; he’s just a really awesome, well-known community member whom we think is a class act, in addition to being our magazine’s cover story.)

Topics covered include:

  • The motion-controller craze that your console manufacturer wants to sweep the nation with;
  • Microsoft’s Avatar Kinect experiment, and the bellowing laughter from Sony executives it produces;
  • How HSM came to exist;
  • The cross-dressing trend in Home: is it really that big of a deal?
  • Jersquall’s history with Home, GamerIndepth, and Club HomeInformer;
  • The exceptional work of the Home Community Volunteers;
  • Why is the Mansion priced the way it is, and what does the “modular add-on” innovation mean for private spaces?
  • “Home Schooling,” our digital answer to Bill Maher’s “New Rules” format;

AND, for those of you who make it all the way through the insanity, there’s a special easter egg: the intrepid editor-in-chief with the English degree makes a blatant mistake with the language! Witness the Norsefail for yourself!

Is it true that the bartender in the LucasArts Cantina really does interact with Home users? Is the PS3 so powerful that it should be programmed with James Earl Jones’ voice? Is random usage of “Also Sprach Zarathustra” the ultimate non-sequitur?

You’ll just have to listen to find out. :)

Needless to say, we loosened our neckties and had a lot of fun recording our very first podcast, and we hope you enjoy listening to Four Guys On Skype — er, The Upload.

  2. Jersquall says:

    Really good first podcast. Thanks for having me.

  3. Cubehouse says:

    Erk, I had just downed a number of coffees before doing this and was physically shaking throughout with energy.

    Was good fun to do :)

  4. Nos says:

    “devoted to the LITERATE gamers in Home” haha.
    OMG -- he said “fuddy duddy” o.O
    The illiterate non-intellectuals likely never made it to the Home Schooling Section.
    *eats sub*
    LOL

  5. NorseGamer says:

    Jersquall, Sophronia, Nos, you all have standing invitations to join in The Upload whenever you wish. :)

    We have now added HOMEinformer to HSM’s blogroll.

    (There IS something wonderfully ironic about holding “Home Schooling” off until the very end, when the idiots have tuned out…)

    This is such an awesome podcast! I stayed at the office an hour after quitting time, so I could listen to it with a good high-speed connection. “I can always stop and pick it up later,” I thought, but there was no place I wanted to quit. Can’t wait to hear what you do next!

  7. cynella says:

  8. Burbie52 says:

    Great job guys!! It was a fun listen as well as informative. You need to get some females in there next time, (keara would be my choice) so that you can get their perspective on things. Laughing Out Loud!! There I spelled it out Norse, no more initialisms for me. Anyway, it was fun can’t wait to hear next edition.

  9. SealWyf says:

    One of my Facebook friends suggested that you also make a transcript available. I think it’s an excellent idea. All the cool kids have transcripts. :)

  10. Kelli Henderson says:

    I am going through the archives and listening to each podcast as I am fairly new to Home..Maybe you could change the name of the podcast to HOMEcast?…
