Your role as a designer
You have an important role to fulfill throughout the design journey. Here are a few tips to help you direct your customers through the
buying process.
1. Reinforce your position as your
customers’ trusted adviser.
Continually demonstrate that you have
the education, training, experience
and vision to guide your customers
throughout the entire design journey.
2. Provide your customers with homework.
Send them to kraftmaid.com, where they can
take the Style Quiz, create a Style Board and
save products to MyStyle Studio. Giving your
customers assignments will help you better
understand their needs, wants and desires so
you can create a design that fits them.
3. Get customers engaged in the design
process.
When they’re emotionally
connected to the project, they continue
to make decisions and move the project
forward. It also prevents them from
seeking out a different designer.
4. Show them how much you’re
committed.
Spend time with your
customers. Listen to understand
them. Learn how they plan to use
their space. Customers buy cabinetry
only two to three times in their lives,
so they need to know they have your
undivided attention.
5. Show them that you listened.
When you show customers
their designs, tell them how you
incorporated products that fulfill
the needs, wants and desires
that they expressed. It’s hard to
say “no” to a kitchen that is the
perfect fit.
