The process for adding an OctoPrint controlled printer (or printers) to your account is primarily controlled from the OctoPrint controller side. There are, however, two pieces of information you will need from the Polar Cloud side. Go to your account’s “ACCOUNT” screen; (click your member icon at the top right of any Polar Cloud screen, and on the resulting menu select “Settings”). Note the main email address associated with your account in the Polar Cloud, and your account “PIN Code”; see the lower left of Figure 9.7.
A “PIN Code” is automatically generated for your account when you first create a Polar Cloud account. However, you may also change your “PIN Code”, should you wish; just make sure to click the “SAVE” button (to save your change)!
With your account email and “PIN Code” noted, then see the Securely Put Any Printer onto the Polar Cloud guide4 for details on configuring the OctoPrint server to add a printer to your account.
Or see a video walk-through at Polar 3D’s YouTube channel Put your 3D printers onto the Internet with the Polar Cloud & OctoPrint.
To register an OctoPrint server with the Polar Cloud, you will supply OctoPrint with the e-mail address associated with your Polar Cloud account as well as your PIN Code. OctoPrint will connect to the cloud using SSL/TLS and provide your account information as well as a public RSA crypto key it has generated. Once your account is validated by the cloud, a unique serial number will be sent back to OctoPrint. Then each time OctoPrint connects to the cloud, it will authenticate itself through use of its private RSA crypto key.
