You may want to share a few objects to your class group, to help your students get started 3D printing objects of interest. If you are using the Polar 3D STEAMtrax curriculum or the Maker’s Empire curriculum, your curriculum module may suggest some objects to get started on. Otherwise, you may have a personal favorite object or two.
Note that students will be able to access public objects (“COMMUNITY OBJECTS”) in the Polar Cloud, thus you do not need to specifically enter any public objects as shared objects in your group. But even such public objects may be more easily located by your students if you share them to your group, so that students can simply start by looking under the class group for objects, rather than searching all the public objects.
To share some of your own, private objects with the class group, there are two approaches: (1) For simplicity, you may go to the group’s “OBJECTS” screen and click the “SHARE” button, select the desired objects at the “SHARE OBJECTS” pop-screen, and then click the “SHARE” button on that “SHARE OBJECTS” pop-up screen. (2) Alternatively, you may go to the Polar Cloud objects “MY OBJECTS” list, find an object you wish to share and select it (click on its image), click the “SHARE” button on the object detail page, select “Share with Groups” from the drop-down menu, select your class group at the “SHARE WITH GROUPS” pop-up screen, and then click the “SHARE” button on that “SHARE WITH GROUPS” pop-up screen.
To share an object that has been shared with you (“OBJECTS SHARED WITH ME”) or a public object (“COMMUNITY OBJECTS”) with the class group, on the Polar Cloud “OBJECTS” page select (click) the respective list of objects, find an object you wish to share, select it (click on its image), click the “SHARE” button on the object detail page, select “Share with Groups” from the drop-down menu, select your class group at the “SHARE WITH GROUPS” pop-up screen, and then click the “SHARE” button on that “SHARE WITH GROUPS” pop-up screen.
