Many people are curious about the type of fish that they might catch in Panama City Beach. Truth is, there is no definitive answer. Our waters are home to many fish, including red snappers, Spanish mackerel, common grouper, flounder, Spanish mackerel, and even exotic triggerfishes, amberjack, pompano, and other species. The best fishing season is October to December when sailfish, king mackerel, and red snapper are running and January to April when the big reds enter.
Panama City Beach is well known for its offshore fishing. With a wide variety of species that swim in the Gulf of Mexico, there is no telling what you might catch.
Parents have the opportunity to allow their child to spend the afternoon fishing with Capt. Chris Nguyen. During Fishing Camp, you can expect your child to learn the basics of bay fishing, knot tying, casting, using live bait, and more! All safety equipment and fishing gear are included and Coast Guard approved. This is a great chance to introduce your child to the wonderful sport of fishing!

It is not necessary for Florida senior residents to purchase a hunting and/or fishing license. Residents 65 years of age or older may possess either a Resident Senior Citizen Hunting and Fishing Certificate or proof of age and residency (A driver license is sufficient).

Peacock Bass or ‘Sargento’, as they are known locally, are not a native game fish of Panama but originate from the Amazon, Rio Negro and Orinoco river basins of South America where they are called Tucanare or Pavon and are considered a premier sportfishing charter quarry.

Fines. Fishing in Florida without a license is a level one violation under Section 379.354 of the Florida statutes and considered a noncriminal infraction. Level one violations involving fishing license requirements carry a civil penalty equal to the cost of the license plus $50.
