It’s not uncommon for a wrestler to change his gimmick many times over the course of his career, but what’s impressive is when a competitor finds success with each of them.
Though he’s perhaps best known as The Godfather, Charles Wright first came to prominence as the voodoo-practicing Papa Shango, with his signature top hat and face paint. Soon after leaving WWE, Wright reappeared as Kama “The Supreme Fighting Machine,” a brutally effective brawler who went toe-to-toe with The Undertaker before being rechristened Kama Mustafa as part of the Nation of Domination. This would ultimately lead to Wright’s most successful persona, The Godfather, which saw him utilize the services of his “hos” on his way to a WWF (now WWE) Intercontinental Title Run.
But as the edgy Attitude Era came to a close, Wright changed with the times, adopting the gimmick of the morally upright Goodfather and showing the full impressive range of his many personas.
