Slayers, Vamps and Space Hookers: The Hottest Women of Whedon

UGO combs the Whedon-Verse for the 75 most Hellish-ly hot women Joss has to offer.

Joss Whedon loves the ladies.  He's put more girl-power across four TV series than the Spice Girls and Betty White combined, which is a horrific image to picture, but now you don't have to!  Check out UGO's tribute to sci-fi and the man himself with The Ultimate Women of Whedon!

No power in the 'verse can stop them.

Tracy Ryan

Petaline - Firefly

Cowboys and Space HookersTracy Ryan filled out her role as pregnant prostitute Petaline in Firefly's penultimate "Heart of Gold."

War Stories: Petaline found herself eating for two after a visit from local magistrate Rance Burgess, who returned to claim his young, mowing down whatever space hookers got in his way.  The Serenity crew did manage to protect Petaline, at the cost of only a few pretty ladies, Melinda Clarke's Nandi among them.  But she was more than happy to penetrate Rance in turn with a bullet after a quick introduction to his son, eventually taking over the brothel.

Still Flying:  Tracy Ryan will continue working with "children" in Kids In The Hall: Death Comes to Town.

Dagney Kerr

Kathy Newman - Buffy

The Chosen One: Demonic soul-sucker, and annoying roommate to boot Kathy Newman.

Her Stake in Things: College roommates are never easy.  They're always eating your food without asking, or playing obnoxious music when they're not busy cramping your style or avoiding chores.  And when they lean over you at night to slowly absorb your soul?  That's where you draw the line.  Roommate from Hell got a little too literal for Kathy Newman, who soon found herself being dragged back to hell by her demon father.  Kids these days.

So Long Sunnydale: Dagney Kerr didn't stay in Hell for long, clawing her way back up to a recurring role on Desperate Housewives and a short stint on ER.

Clara Bryant

Molly - Buffy

The Chosen One: Perhaps the most stand-out (given her attrocious Cockney accent) the potential slayers was Clara Bryant's Molly.

Her Stake In Things:  Aside from being one of the few potentials to actually kill a vampire, Molly gained notoriety aside from her Britishisms by falling victim to an impalement by Nathan Fillion's Caleb, whose Southern accent burned our ears far less.

So Long Sunnydale: A guest-star on Buffy, having few additional credits to her name, you say?  Maybe it was the fake accent.

Stephanie Romanov

Lilah Morgan - Angel

The Chosen One: Long-running lawyer and original liason to the Senior Partners, Stephanie Romanov's Lilah Morgan proved that the face of evil sometimes wears ruby-red lipstick.

Her Stake in Things: Ever the woman fighting to earn a piece of a man's (or demons) world, Lilah represented a thorn in Angel's side from the very beginning as representative to evil demonic law firm (is there any other kind?) Wolfram and Hart.  But life's a bitch, and then you die, or so she thought.  Even after a posessed Cordelia stabbed her to death, and Wesley beheaded the body in case of vampirism, Lilah returned under undead contract with a minor nick on her neck.

Leaving Los Angeles: With most of her career behind her prior to Angel, Stephanie recently appeared in Last Night with Sam Worthington and Keira Knightley.

Olivia Williams

Adelle DeWitt - Dollhouse

Imprint: The ever-present scowl and deadpan Britishism of Olivia Williams lent itself very well to Dollhouse's stern mistress leader Adelle DeWitt.

Composite Event: The morally ambiguous Adelle never seemed quite sure who's side she was on, subtly manipulating both her co-workers and higher-ups, and grabbing a piece of Victor whenever she could.  Aside from Topher, she would be the most directly responsible for the techno-pocalypse, having personally delivered the necessary imprint technology to the Rossum Corporation.  Eventually, she seemed to overcome her drinking problem long enough to aid the actuals in taking back the world, even at the cost of her surrogate son Topher Brink.  And they say that Brits are unfeeling.

Epitaph One: Olivia was most recently seen in Roman Polanski's The Ghost Writer, alongside Ewan McGregor and Pierce Brosnan, and is currently filming Hanna with Cate Blanchett and Eric Bana.

Ashanti - Babes of Buffy

Ashanti

Lissa - Buffy

The Chosen One: Like her predecessors, a demon woman vying for Xander's attention and trying to open the Hellmouth.  The guy's like demon catnip.

Her Stake in Things: Rebound relationships are tough, especially when the first date doesn't go quite the way you hoped.  Xander's instincts served him well, as he soon found himself tied up and hanging from the basement ceiling, and not in the fun way.  Buffy to the rescue!

So Long Sunnydale: Ashanti's never had any trouble selling her soul for a music career, but her acting career's gotten several bumps up since Buffy, netting small roles in John Tucker Must Die and Resident Evil: Extinction.

Amanda Wilmshurst

Joy - Buffy

The Chosen One: We just couldn't have a list involving high school students without a head cheerleader, in Amanda Wilmhurst's Joy.

Her Stake In Things: Joy holds the honor of being one of the few Sunnydale students introduced, but not at the center of a plot to survive her tenure.  Far as we know, Joy happily graduated to be succeeded as cheerleading queen by Cordelia.  But she did get thrown across an auditorium by Buffy, in one of her more famous moments.

So Long Sunnydale: What high school student could resist Eddie Kaye Thomas?  Amanda went on to appear briefly in American Pie 2, followed shortly by a recurring role in soap opera Port Charles.

Jaime Bergman

Amanda - Angel

The Chosen One: David Boreanaz didn't mind making Jaime Bergman his chosen one, in turn giving her a guest-spot as Amanda, pregnant mother to a future demon cult leader.

Her Stake In Things: Amanda was only too happy to give up her child to a demon cult on the understanding he'd be worshipped and cared for better than she ever could.  Accepting this deal drove Team Angel over the edge against their leader, who revealed it all as a plot to infiltrate the Senior Partners, eventually rescuing the child in the process.

Leaving Los Angeles:  Los Angeles isn't the only thing this Playboy bunny might be leaving after that cheating scandal!  Hey-o!  I'm sorry, that's a sad situation.

Julia Lee - Women of Whedon

Julia Lee

Anne Steele, Joan Appleby, Sister Sunshine, Chantarelle, Lily Houston - Buffy / Angel

The Chosen One: Blonde bombshell Julia Lee took up a wealth of names in the Buffy-verse, playing...forget it.  I'm not writing all those names again.

Her Stake in Things: Originally an abused girl named Joan, Anne re-invented herself as Chantarelle, a vampire worshipper, before nearly ending up a blood-cocktail and moving to LA as a runaway under the name Lily Houston.  When THAT didn't work out, she founded a shelter for wayward teenagers as Anne Steele (a name derived from Buffy's middle name), encountering the crew of Angel investigations and Wolfram and Hart numerous times.  Still with me?  Anne even appeared in the Angel finale, helping Gunn live out his last peaceful day.

Leaving Los Angeles: Unless Julia too's been changing her name and living out several lives, the only post-Angel credits of note are Grind and Free Ride.

Lalaine

Chloe - Buffy

The Chosen One:  Not quite, but almost.  Lalaine played potential slayer Chloe, who unfortunately didn't hang around long enough for Buffy's big slayer empowerment.

Her Stake In Things:  Seriously, who gets upset when a drill instructor calls you "maggot"?  It's what they do!  Chloe served as a warning to the other potentials, as The First preyed on her insecurities by convincing poor Chloe to hang herself before the fight got started, even taking her image to add insult to injury.  Red-skirt, the universe weeps for thee.

So Long Sunnydale:  Lalaine didn't let her hanging take her mind off the brighter side of life, taking a long-standing role in the Disney Channel's sugary pop-disaster Lizzie McGuire.  What, was Hilary Duff too busy for Buffy?
