More than 125,000 souls, covered in tats and
decked out in the latest TapOut gear, walked through the Mandalay Bay
Convention Center last weekend, hoping for a glance at their favorite fighter
and a chance to interact with the legends of the MMA industry. None of
those people left disappointed. Despite long lines and huge crowds, fans
were thrilled to see everyone from UFC Interim Heavyweight Champion Shane
Carwin to pioneers like Ken Shamrock.
Lots of other unique opportunities abounded: a chance to step in the
Octagon, free grappling contests featuring UFC stars like Takanori Gomi, and
fan question and answers with UFC big wigs Dana White and Lorenzo
Fertitta. The event was such a tremendous success that two more are in
the works this year: one August 27 and 28 in Boston and a proposed
October Expo in London.
