With all the high-profile guest stars set to appear in The Office's seventh season finale, it'll be a wonder if the writers have any time for an actual plot!

Funnyman Jim Carrey is the latest star to make his way to Dunder-Mifflin for the season's final episodes, joining an already impressive list consisting of Will Ferrell, Ricky Gervais, Will Arnett, James Spader, Ray Romano and Catherine Tate.  The A-list talent are likely intended to bring viewere attention back to the show after Steve Carell makes his final turn as Michael Scott in the April 28th episode.

But with all these potential candidates, who might actually succeed the throne of Regional Manager?  Let's review:

Ferrell and Carrey being the most notable stars, neither would likely take a potentially longterm TV gig, Ferrell only signed for two more episodes anyway.

Ricky Gervais will reprise his role as the original UK Office's David Brent for a second time, but odds are wouldn't want to revisit on a longterm basis a character he'd put to bed.

Will Arnett would be a fine choice, but has already committed to another NBC pilot and if series writer/star Mindy Kaling's tweets are to be believed, Arnett will play the oft-mentioned "Scranton Strangler" with James Spader as his public defender.

Romano remains committed to Men of a Certain Age, so does that leave Doctor Who's Catherine Tate as the sole candidate?  Unlikely, as another female comedic lead as the Office head might bring the series' tone uncomfortably close to that of Parks and Recreation.  In all likelihood, the promotion will either come from within or from a guest-star we've yet to hear about.

What say you?  Is The Office getting Carrey-ed away, or have we indeed found the next Michael Scott?  Sound off with your vote below!
